Police: Horse in Vermont shot to death by bow and arrow

BARRE, Vt. (AP) — Police in Vermont are searching for whoever shot and killed a horse with a bow and arrow.

Authorities say the 23-year-old mare, Bunny, was fatally shot sometime between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning in Barre.

WCAX-TV reports searchers discovered part of an arrow lying in the pasture. Another piece was found in the horse's stomach.

Though it is bow hunting season, Chief Timothy Bombardier says he doesn't believe the slaying was a hunting accident.

5. A long, agonizing, terrifying death for an innocent non-game animal.

The perpetrator will probably not be able to restrain himself from admitting it, running his mouth some night in an area bar or target range. Here's hoping somebody turns him in.

How awful for that poor animal and the owners. Brings to mind that draft horse that was shot and killed recently. The owners were Sikh, so it is pretty obvious what happened.
