Syria's civil war: Russian air raids kill 55 in Aleppo
Source: aljazeera
At least 55 people have been killed over the past 24 hours in the Syrian province of Aleppo as Russian air raids resumed over the countryside, sources told Al Jazeera.
The deaths from raids in Aleppo's Bustan al-Qasr and Fardous neighbourhoods, as well as Ar-Rasheeqa city, were the results of the heaviest Russian bombardment in days on the city's rebel-held sector, people in the city said. Dozens were also wounded.
Al Jazeera has seen a letter signed by at least 62 countries, including Saudi Arabia and Qatar, calling on the UN Security Council to prevent further deaths from a "calculated campaign". The letter warns that the war in Syria is unlikely to be resolved by armies. It calls on all parties to adopt political processes for a political transition based on recommendations agreed upon in Geneva conventions and at the Security Council.
Hundreds of thousands of Syrians have died in the war, which has gone on for five years and forced millions of people from the country.

(1,145 posts)to stop funding the jihadist mercenaries inhabiting eastern Aleppo, the Russians and Syrian armies wouldn't be bombing it in an attempt to remove them.
If the US gives up on its desire for regime change in Damascus and ceased arming and supporting jihadists the fighting would end.
We didn't care about the thousands of innocent Syrians killed by our "rebels" when we started arming them, and we don't care about them now.

At least educate yourself on what's been going on over there before talking out of your ass.

(1,333 posts)are afraid the anti Russia posters would alert their posts when they try to post on this forum. Heck, I have had posts hidden for name calling because I used the term "cold war babies", other posts hidden for posting pics and videos of the white helmets with weapons and dancing with ISIS etc etc
I hope you are not trying to bait people into posting anti war stuff just so they can get their posts alerted and hidden.

(55,445 posts)I always seemed to lose when I did so I don't bother anymore...
And the only instances I'm seeing of "white helmets with weapons and dancing with ISIS" -stories are all on conspiracy nutbar sites, so you can't complain about those getting locked...
(Ironically, Assange and the Russian government have been smearing them for months, which might as well be a bona fide Seal of Authenticity)

(23,219 posts)I also hope that the insurgents allow the voluntary departure of civilians from those districts of Aleppo under their control.
In its military activities, I hope that the government and its allies be constantly mindful of the risks of killing non-military actors.
