Hillary Clinton makes brief fundraising stop in Seattle

“There’s a lot about this election that is dispiriting, unsettling. I take no satisfaction in seeing what Trump does and says because it hurts — it hurts me and it hurts our country. It hurts all of us,” Clinton said at the Paramount, where Trump backers gathered outside on a blustery day, one bearing a sign that read, “Hillary for Prison 2016.”

The Democratic presidential nominee said that while she understands many voters want to “turn away,” her supporters need to help her win the election to “demonstrate the positive, optimistic, confident, unifying vision of America that I believe in and that I think, together, we can demonstrate America’s best days are still ahead of us.”
.........................

Clinton said she wanted people “to start looking after each other again,” and that while she would aim to pass laws and seek “some real national commitments,” people needed to support each other at the end of an acrimonious campaign season.

“I will be asking for your help. I need your help not just to win this election but to govern and to heal the divides that exist in our country right now,” Clinton said. “I do believe there isn’t anything we can’t do once we make up our minds to do it.”........................

In reading Hillary's comments in the OP--it is apparent that she is speaking from the heart. Her comments made me pause--she said she hurts from this election.

I can not imagine what she and her family are going through just so Donald can feed his ego.

Her traveling press corp was allowed into the fundraiser.

Why The Seattle Times editorial board endorsed Hillary Clinton, by Opinion Page Editor
@k8riley: http://st.news/2ee2dYk

..........Eleven months ago, the board published an editorial, “Donald Trump’s creeping fascism needs to be rejected,” highlighting what we now know all too well about this demagogue and the damage he has done to civil discourse. “Button-pushing lie after button-pushing lie, he diminishes the public sphere,” the board wrote.

Still, Trump is running a campaign that has demoralized and insulted almost half the nation and, disappointingly, inspired too much of the rest. Polls show him close or leading in some battleground states, including Kasich’s Ohio.

This phenomenon says much about our nation — the precipitously uneven effects of and recovery from a devastating recession, the burdens of 15 years at war with casualties that have fallen too heavily on rural communities and low-income people, the rising fortunes of high-tech communities and the fading of some resource-based economies, the bitter divisiveness of trade-dependent communities and those who blame trade agreements for lost jobs and growing income inequity everywhere.

Blue Washington, with its own versions of those divisions, is expected to go strongly for Clinton. Recent polls show Clinton is leading Trump by double digits.

Today’s Times’ endorsement of Clinton won’t be much of a surprise in Puget Sound. .................
