A black Parks Department worker who said she was forced to clean dog poop from the bottom of an artists fancy shoes also claimed Friday that a white supervisor suggested she get a thick skin about racism.
Tasheema Chatman, 40, a mom to a 15-year-old son and a 6-year-old daughter, said she was ordered Oct. 2 to scrape feces off the expensive shoes of Baltimore artist Christos Palios.
The incident occurred during an outdoor art show near Gracie Mansion under the eyes of her two white male supervisors, Chatman said.
The following day she spotted Parks Department regional manager Mark Vaccaro. She said she called out to him, intending to tell him how much the interaction with the artist upset her.

Christos Palios
He thinks it's better if a city employee comes over to clean his shoes
when he walks through dog poop. He has to protect his hands for art.
It's much better if someone else does it. [/center]

(6,133 posts)You stepped in it. The two white supervisors could have wiped it off, if they thought it important.

(36,437 posts)The installations Christo (not Christos) is over 80 years old, and would not have a booth at the park. This is a local artist from Baltimore.
Why you might think Christo (the installations artist) is an ass is anyone's guess, but this story has nothing to do with him.

(3,599 posts)about the impact of his recent proposed Over the River "art installation" in Colorado - he doesn't give a shit about the environmental impact and how the visitor traffic will affect the local area. My sis-in-law and niece live there and say the locals are very opposed to this. Christo is aware of the opposition and doesn't care.

(26,598 posts)He has a different recollection of the event, but I agree with the general premise: that if someone expects a random park worker to clean poop off his shoe, then he's an ass...
