Donald Trump: “animals representing Hillary Clinton” firebombed GOP office

Source: Vox

Donald Trump has accused unnamed Hillary Clinton allies of being the arsonists behind the firebombing of a Republican headquarters in North Carolina on Saturday.

Taking to Twitter Sunday afternoon, Trump alleged that “animals” representing Clinton and Democrats in North Carolina had helped destroy the Republican Party’s offices in Hillsborough, North Carolina.

* * *
Trump didn’t provide any evidence for the claim that people representing Clinton were behind what Republican officials in North Carolina are calling “an act of political terrorism.” (Trump did say the attack occurred “because we are winning,” though most polls show Clinton leading in the state by several points.)

Authorities have said nothing to give any reason to suspect Clinton or North Carolina Democrats orchestrated the attack. Local law enforcement, Clinton, and Republicans in North Carolina have all responded by condemning the attack and calling for a full investigation.

Otherwise he would be saying how horrific it is that it happened and demand an investigation, not jumping to conclusion and calling his assumed perpetrators, animals.

I think the Don's speechwriters are guilty of knowing, and are writing to capitalize on the situation before it blows up on them.

Sun Oct 16, 2016, 11:19 PM
Oct 2016

I've never seen the kind of vicious vitriol like what has manifested itself during this insane campaign! And it's all coming from THEIR corner! The radical right that erupted so horridly after Obama was elected for the first time that they were cited by an early government report on the rise of violent extremism. Remember what a hissy fit they threw? HOW DARE YOU ACCUSE US!!!! Well, SHEESH!!! They raged so loud and long that the report, while 100% true, was eventually retracted. This, mind you, WHILE the Secret Service reported that threats against the life of the new President had increased by 400% or so. And gee whiz, who'd be hating so hard that they'd threaten the First Black President in American History? Gee - wonder who that could possibly be...

But it seems to be noticeable. The guitarist in my kid's band was talking about it just today. He remarked about all the fistfights that broke out - and how it ALWAYS happened at Trump rallies. There were none at rallies for any of the other GOP hopefuls. There weren't any at the Bernie rallies. And you never saw any at Hillary's rallies, either! It's never happened among the Dems - as far back as I can remember. Maybe it's that we tend to lead with our brains instead of our fists? Maybe it's because we're neither afraid nor ashamed of empathy and compassion? Too much testosterone overload?

It just doesn't seem to be what we do.

I've been away for a while. I have family in Europe and Latin America. This election has been so toxic that sometimes I try to pretend that Trump doesn't exist. I also find it depressing that there are so many people who are as toxic as he is among his supporters. The ones who Hillary euphemistically called the "deplorables'.

Yeah, I'm weary of Wallace. Although, he is a registered Democrat. We'll see how "fair and balanced" he turns out to be.

Trump keeps telling his followers how the "establishment" GOP is out to get him, he encourages his followers to not vote for them, he slams any republican that has not endorsed him, or who have taken back that endorsement. His followers have harassed people before because they won't back trump, so if you ask me some of those brainless jerks that follow his every word should be the ones to look at. It's just like when Trump works them up to go after the reporters. He can keep his hands clean if they do something crazy, but he is to blame for their actions.

Just my opinion.

to "take action" against the "establishment" from the Trump side.

I am going to wait until there is more information before I make pronouncements. Unlike Trump, who is quite a bit older than I am, I have learned that it is wiser to learn more before casting broad blame - as we are often wrong (think Timothy McVeigh - initial speculation that worked into media reports was 'middle eastern suspects'.)

If indeed the culprit(s) are Trump supporters - I will scream and repeat it loudly and often per the harbinger of lead up to the election, election day, and post election day dangers.

But sometimes, what really happened doesn't follow the narrative we expect. (As in an individual aggrieved with some person, acting on a personal vendetta that has nothing to do with the narrative that is predicted.) So I am holding off on the pile on.

Trump's premature response - given his language of provocation - it is ironic that he would make such a strong "certain" statement. But not surprising given how disconnected he is from his statements and actions and the effects of those statements and actions.

This has all the signs of a setup. The Graffiti was rather carefully written on the side of a nearby building, NOT the front of GOP HQ. I doubt it was a local Democrat simply because this is the most Democratic county in the state. No Orange County Dem would feel afraid of the local GOP enough to bother with this kind of action.

Several folks have suggested it was done to focus Republicans on an angry response in defense. That sounds much more likely. I've lived here 36 years and no Democrat here would have bothered to buy or steal the paint let alone waste good gasoline driving over there to do it. We've done years of far more effective public protest regarding HB-2 and other moral outrages. Trump doesn't frighten anyone around here nearly as much as the miserable excuse for a Governor and Legislature we have.
