Log Cabin Republicans board votes against endorsing Trump
Source: Politico
The board of the nations largest group of LGBT Republicans has voted to not endorse Donald Trump, in a contentious decision that did not reflect the preference of many of its chapters.
While the Log Cabin Republicans are united against Hillary Clinton, the groups 14-member national board narrowly voted on Tuesday to withhold an endorsement of the Republican nominee, according to Gregory T. Angelo, the organizations president.
Its the second time the official national group has chosen not to back the GOP nominee the prior time was 2004 for George W. Bush. The move reflects struggles throughout the Republican coalition, though for LGBT conservatives its been particularly wrenching. Trumps rhetoric, they say, has been more pro-gay than any presidential nominee in history.
Withholding an endorsement is not the same thing as opposing someones nomination, Angelo said in an interview. There were members of our national board of directors who had very passionate feelings in favor of both.

Trump Said He Would Strongly Consider Appointing Judges To Overturn Same-Sex Marriage Decision. Asked on Fox News Sunday WALLACE: But -- but just to button this up very quickly, sir, are you saying that if you become president, you might try to appoint justices to overrule the decision on same-sex marriage? TRUMP: I would strongly consider that, yes. [Fox News Sunday, 1/31/2016; VIDEO]

(129 posts)First thought about Log Cabin Republicans has always been "don't you even know your own interests?"
The GOP has it written into their national political platform: government control of sexuality by any means possible.
2nd thought, about this announcement in particular:
What took you gay so-called "Republicans" so long to recognize reality?
The biggest challenge in the 21st century isn't an economic question. Economic activity can be controlled by law.
The biggest challenge, the REASON TO HAVE LAWS, is for personal liberty. Privacy and freedom.
Log Cabin Republicans diss their own selves, hoping to someday influence policies within their party that CAN NEVER OCCUR BY POPULAR VOTE WITHIN THEIR PARTY.
Republican gays. Yeah, right. That's a thing.
