The first day of early voting in Clark County set a new record by a substantial margin Saturday, as more than 37,000 voters turned out to cast ballots at polling places around the valley.
As of 6 p.m., 37,138 voters had cast their ballots in the general election, according to Clark County Public Information Officer Dan Kulin. The 2012 general election had a turnout of 33,182 voters in Clark County on the first day of early voting, Kulin said.
The final record tally could be significantly higher, as some polling sites stay open as late as 7 or 8 p.m.
Earlier Saturday, Clark County Registrar of Voters Joe Gloria said no issues were reported at any of the polling sites.
