A new poll shows that Donald Trump, seen here after the first presidential debate, could have the worst showing of any Republican nominee in California in nearly a century.

Donald Trump is careening toward a historically poor showing in California, a prospect that has left several GOP congressmen fearful for their seats and Democrats hopeful they can regain a supermajority in the Legislature.

According to a new poll from the Public Policy Institute of California, in just one month Democrat Hillary Clinton’s lead over Trump has soared from 16 to 26 points as the brash billionaire’s campaign has imploded amid allegations that he’s a serial groper. He now has the support of only 28 percent of likely California voters, the poll found.

The contest for retiring U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer’s seat is also unlikely to deliver much drama on election night, the poll found. California Attorney General Kamala Harris leads Loretta Sanchez, an Orange County congresswoman, by 22 points....................

In the 1960s and 1970s, California was #1 in the nation in its K-12 public school system.

Then, Grover Norquist led a movement to pass Prop 13 in 1978, lowering and severely limiting property taxes.

Schools are funded through property taxes.

Prop 13 limited property tax increases to 2% annually from an initial 1% of property value. However, the rates of inflation were often 3% or higher during the time.

Most of the public schools saw their funding slashed by 50% or more and any increase in funding was much lower than the inflation rate. Thus, the buying power of the schools was hurt even more, and gradually got worse throughout 2 decades.

Then, 16 years of Republican governors (George Deukmejian and Pete Wilson) in the 1980s and 1990s continued the bleeding.

darn good for us and not so darn good for that Mr. Trump person.

Wouldn't mind one bit if voters tossed Congressman Issa overboard.

over the country to recognize the bigotry in the GOP. Interestingly, the unabashed manifestation of the party's embrace of white supremacy has also driven away Asian voters.

Then what to me seems worse, is the folks who are still supporting him regardless of all his scandalous behaviour and cannot understand why the rest us wouldn't.

That's the core of the republican base, 26 - 28%. Those people would put a check by his name while they stood in line to be hazed by him. I get that. But who are these other 8% who identify with that same fringe base?

they'd reject him representing all of them, to show that they're not offensive monsters who support him, and she'd take all but one or two states. I know a decent amount have, but by no means the to the level that should reject him. He'd have to commit a really filthy act on stage to lose half his support, and still, he'd have 20 millions backers after that! Some people are truly sick and deplorable...
