Kirk Flubs Debate with Duckworth

Source: Political Wire

After Rep. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) explained that she was a “daughter of the American Revolution” and had “bled for this nation” in a debate, Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL) responded: “I forgot that your parents came all the way from Thailand to serve George Washington.”

Duckworth’s silence makes it even more devastating.

Her mother is from Thailand.

In addition to spouting racist nonsense, he was also factually wrong on a point that could have been discerned through a 10 second Wikipedia look-up.

... a descendant of Charlemagne and Charles "The Hammer" Martel who drove Muslims out of Europe?

http://familypedia.wikia.com/wiki/Ancestors_of_Barack_Obama

Maybe something like, "I forgot that your parents came all the way from Kenya to be emperors in old Europe."

By the way, I just found that genealogy site and I'm recognizing some shared ancestry (in both America and Europe) to President Obama.

Thank goodness that I'm not just related to Dumbya and father Bush now!

We're ALL related, of course! There's common ancestry among all of us! Well, it's apparently a no-no to suggest that to some Native Americans according to a recent NOVA episode that I saw about ancient human migration out of Africa, but they're deluding themselves.

.2% sounds about what he should get after that clueless insult!

What a disrespectful put down of her that comes back to slap him in the face. He should put out an apology to save some face, and say how rude it was of him to assume. At least he'd have some dignity.

Kirk's worst comment (in my opinion) was a few weeks ago when he said "Duckworth doesn't stand up for our troops"

Duckworth lost both legs serving in either Iraq or Afghanistan.

America doesn't have time for political correctness, trigger words, or safe spaces. We're making America great again!

Looking forward to having a new Democratic senator from Illinois soon to vote for President Hillary's judicial appointees.

The GOP, including those who were former boll weevil dixicrats, are anti-miscegenation.

The article noted about Kirk -

It's not the first time the Illinois senator has courted controversy with racially-charged comments — he previously said President Obama was "acting like the drug dealer in chief" for the administration's cash payment to Iran in exchange for the release of American prisoners, and talked about fostering opportunities for African-American entrepreneurs so "that the black community is not the one we drive faster through."
