Poll: Republican Josh Hawley leads Democratic opponent in race for Missouri attorney general
Source: St. Louis Post-Dispatch
The survey of 625 registered voters from Oct. 24-26 by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research found Hawley garnering support from 50 percent of those polled, compared to 40 percent for Hensley, a resident of Raymore. The margin of error is plus or minus 4 percentage points.
The two are vying to replace Democrat Attorney General Chris Koster, who is leaving after two terms in an attempt to become Missouris next governor.
The results show Hawleys biggest support is coming from the Republican-dominated non-urban areas of the state. The poll also showed that the race features a higher percentage of undecided voters at 10 percent than in races for president, U.S. Senate and governor.
Mason-Dixon Managing Director Brad Coker said Hawley is likely benefiting from Republican presidential nominee Donald Trumps strong polling numbers at the top of the ticket. The poll found Trump is up five points over Democrat Hillary Clinton.
