Minnesota cult leader gets 30 years in prison for sexually abusing 12-, 13-year-old girls
Source: NY Daily News
A Minnesota cult leader who sexually abused the 12- and 13-year-old girls he chose to live with him as the sects maidens was sentenced to 30 years behind bars.
Victor Barnard, 55, agreed to the prison sentence Friday as part of a plea deal he claimed he made in a bid to spare his victims and the rest of his River Road Fellowship from the ordeal of a trial.
"For him to say that hes doing it to spare us
. it's very cowardly, it's offensive," Jess Schlisky, who was just 12 years old when Barnard began cornicing her into sex, told Fox 21.
Schlisky and another one of the cults so-called maidens, Lindsay Tornambe, testified against Barnard Friday.

(51,311 posts)established basic tenets, such as "No pedophilia," or otherwise breaks the law; when it depends on its "charismatic leader" as opposed to tenets to exist, and he isn't actually Jesus; when it is secretive and not in the Roman Empire of 35 A.D.; when there are threats and restraints put upon followers, and they refer to the temporal not eternal realm.

(62,444 posts)I would be interested to know, since this is a "basic tenet" just where the Bible pegs the age of consent. I understand that Jesus' mother was below the age of consent in many states.
Go and lie in wait in the vineyards; And see, and, behold, if the daughters of Shiloh come out to dance in dances, then come ye out of the vineyards, and catch you every man his wife of the daughters of Shiloh ... And the children of Benjamin did so, and took them wives, according to their number, of them that danced, whom they caught. Judges 21:20-23
Considering that God himself endorses organized gang raids to capture young virgins, I'm fascinated by this reference to a "basic tenet".
