It ain't over! Cubs rock Cleveland, force Game 7

Source: espn.com

CLEVELAND -- After the Chicago Cubs edged the Cleveland Indians in a Game 5 nail-biter on Sunday, Kris Bryant said, "I feel like we play our best with our backs up against the wall." Boy, was he right.

The Cubs exploded out of the gate in Game 6 behind a grand slam and record-tying six RBIs from Addison Russell to beat the Indians 9-3 and force a seventh and deciding game in the World Series. Bryant started the onslaught with a monster solo homer to back 5 2/3 solid innings from Jake Arrieta and sterling performance from the Chicago bullpen.

So two days into November, we can't go any further. One way or another after Wednesday, one city's agony will be over, while another one's will grow worse by another year.

Not a baseball fan, but even I have found this exciting, and have watched all the games. I cannot remember the last time I watched a baseball game.

My late dad was a south sider, and therefore a Sox fan. My older son assures me that my dad's spirit would forgive me for watching the Cubs, because the Sox and the Indians were bitter rivals in years past, and he is sure his grandfather would not have wanted the Cleveland team to triumph.

... the next inning, against the Giants a few years ago too. After pinch-hitting for him, they put in their untrustworthy relief pitcher to follow him the next inning... and the rest is history.

That was late in game three. The Reds went from a 2-0 playoff series lead to a 2-3 series defeat.

It drove me crazy that that was just about all the announcers talked about for the last half hour of the game. They almost made it sound like the Cubs were losing.

Madden has been doing an amazing job all year. I trust him.

I agree that's a goofy way to make such an important WS decision though; seems like the teams themselves should earn it somehow...

In this particular series it is a downright symphony.

I'm a Giants fan, but ever since the Giants were eliminated, I've been rooting for the Cubbies. Hopefully it will be a thrilling game and I hope the Cubs win.

But either way , it's been so long for both teams that I'll feel good for whoever wins.

(I know I know haters gunna hate...) But I won't be sad to see them win tonight. Given the media's desperation for an election horserace and its recent desire to pound any story about Hillary that's negative, Cubs winning the WS may be the best thing that could happen. It could effectively dominate the news cycle until election day, probably not a bad thing when you seem to have a lead as I think we do.
