Ex-rep Dingell: 'Truly deplorable ones' in Trump's cabinet

Former Rep. John Dingell (D-Mich.) says President-elect Donald Trump is staffing his inner circle with "deplorable" figures.

“Forget the basket,” Dingell tweeted Friday. “The truly deplorable ones end up in the cabinet.”

Dingell was referencing a comment Hillary Clinton made on the campaign trail about half of Trump’s supporters falling into a “basket of deplorables” because of their bigoted beliefs.

The president-elect recently announced that he selected Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-Kan.), Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) and retired Lt. Gen Michael Flynn for top posts in the administration. All three have faced opposition and accusations of racism and Islamophobia.
