Kellyanne Conway Slams Mitt Romney: He Went 'Out of His Way' to Hurt Trump

Source: abc

Nov 27, 2016, 11:36 AM ET

President-elect Donald Trump's senior adviser Kellyanne Conway attacked former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, now a contender for secretary of state, warning him, "This is Trump's party now."

"I think that there was the 'Never Trump' movement and then there was Gov. Mitt Romney. He went out of his way to hurt Donald Trump. He gave two speeches that I can recall in this calendar year, and they were both about Donald Trump," Conway said on ABC's "This Week."
.................................
Conway has taken to Twitter over the past week to express some of her views on Trump's choice for secretary of state, tweeting a story from Politico about Trump loyalists warning against Romney as secretary of state and saying she was receiving "a deluge" of similar comments.

She also tweeted: "Kissinger & Schultz as Secs of State flew around the world less, counseled POTUS close to home more. And were loyal. Good checklist."

...................

She noted that Romney is one contender among others being considered for secretary of state. ....................

I wonder if Romney is still on the list after the way Conway talks of him?/

It is sad that even Romney or even Pence looks better than the man about to become President. I frankly would run in the other direction in his administration. You need to look no further than Christie's banishment to see how he operates. He will be looking for a patsy in every situation.

Get ready to enter four years of darkness, and I am afraid probably lots of body bags.

when in a speech Trump said he could have ordered Mitt to drop to his knees (i.e. and give him a blow job) and Mitt would have done it. To me, that was the lowest thing Der Trumpfuhrer said during the campaign.

equating immigrants to rapists is worse. What he said about Romney was something directed at one opponent. What he said about immigrants was against a whole category of people.

Trump's Palm Beach joint, so we know The Donald has good counsel for choosing a Sec of State.

This is the most public of disputes so far for the Trump transition team. We'd imagine that ordinarily a dust-up like this would be on the shortest of leashes. But then again, this is Trump and his crew, so I guess nearly anything can happen.

team is so infuriated by Romney's "disloyalty" that they want him to publicly apologize to Trump and then will still not give him the Sec of State gig, but turn it over to some hack like Giuliani -- all just to burn Mitt.

I'm no fan of Mitt Romney by any stretch, and so I'm pretty negatively biased against him, but still think that if he apologizes to Trump publicly, he's more of a mess than I thought he was.

select Richard Lugar for the Secretary of State position.

Lugar is the last Republican Senator I know of (before he was kicked off the train in the GOP primary by a tea-bagger) who sees the world in global terms.

He's not the sort of Republican Trump seems to respect, but if Trump were someone with an actual brain, he would do a lot worse than to choose Richard Lugar.

idea of being Secretary of State, although holding that job under Donald Trump might not fit the picture Mitt has in mind.

Their temperaments seem very different to me, almost unworkably different. That's just a personal hunch, but even so, they don't seem like the sort of people who would naturally be associates.

The media report that Romney and Trump have met, but about what is still speculation. It's clear that Trump's staff is cool to a Romney appointment.

"Donald Trump’s new campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, spent the primary season as a cable news pundit attacking Trump for his “unpresidential” and “vulgar” language, for having “built a lot of his business on the backs of the little guy,” and for not releasing his tax returns. Conway’s previous lines of criticism are similar to charges the Clinton campaign has levied to admonish the Republican candidate."

Here are a bunch of things Conway said against Trump;

I have noted her in videos patting "The Donald" on the back, defending him in any situation, trying to make it look like newspeople who are just doing their jobs are picking on "her guy."

Kellyanne looks like she's aged at least ten years since she took the campaign manager's job. Or whatever her title was. She's no challenge to Melania.

Melania, though, is getting very close to her sell-by date, at least according to Trump. He's probably casing out models now.

His significant ego may assert itself over more insightful considerations.

If Romney does turn Trump down, maybe Trump could tap Rafalca for the SOS gig. Rafalca has essentially the same qualifications as Romney -- Olympic experience, world travel, a preference for pageantry, etc.
