Jill Stein files for recount in Pennsylvania
Source: Business Insider
Green Party nominee Jill Stein is filing requests in Pennsylvania to start a recount of votes in the presidential election, Politico reported on Monday.
Recount requests were filed in more than 100 precincts in the state, Politico said, citing the Stein campaign.
The move comes three days after Stein initiated a recount in Wisconsin, a process former Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton's campaign agreed to participate in. Stein has also pledged to file for a recount in Michigan.
Donald Trump narrowly won all three states over Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, clinching Trump his Election-Day victory. Trump won Pennsylvania by a margin of about 71,000 votes out of more than 6 million cast.

(108,976 posts)Legal papers filed in Commonwealth Court by a lawyer for Steins campaign contend the Nov. 8 election was illegal and the results inaccurate based on research suggesting there might have been irregularities with electronic voting machines, among other evidence.
Petitioners have grave concerns about the integrity of electronic voting machines used in their districts, the suit stated.

According to the Department of State, there were 9,163 voting precincts in Pennsylvania during the 2016 election. So Stein would need over 27,000 voters to file notarized affidavits, but it's unclear if that avenue is even still available.
According to Wanda Murren, spokeswoman for the Pennsylvania Department of State, the deadline under the law for a voter-initiated recount at the county level had been Monday, Nov. 21. Many counties missed it but nearly half have already certified their results, precluding recounts there. That makes a lawsuit the only remaining option for initiating a statewide recount.

(108,976 posts)necessary affidavits. She's been requesting volunteers on Facebook and Twitter.
I'm not impressed. She should have been requesting volunteers to do the affidavits on the same page where she was requesting money -- the need was just as important.
Hillary is behind by 80,000 votes or so in Pennsylvania. There is no way that 100 precincts (out of 9600) will yield 80,000 additional votes.

In the state where the founding fathers signed our Constitution, it is all important to confirm absolutely that the vote is on the up and up.
