House votes to double budget for Planned Parenthood investigation
Source: The Hill
The House on Thursday approved an additional $800,000 for the select committee investigating abortion provider practices, doubling its budget for the year.
Lawmakers passed the measure along party lines, 234-181, as Democrats called for the investigative panel to be disbanded instead.
The panel is now likely to spend nearly $1.6 million in total over the course of just under a year after the House previously approved a $790,000 budget. It is expected to issue a report before it disbands at the end of this year.
The House created the investigative committee in October of last year to investigate Planned Parenthood and abortion providers handling of fetal tissue.

(50,449 posts)My favorite thing about the Republican Party is its willingness to go into Congress in the morning and scream about how much money the (fill in this week's Republican target) is wasting by spending $1 on something they think is frivolous, then go back after their three-martini lunches and vote to spend $10 on something everyone else thinks is frivolous.
My suggestion to stop this bullshit: require that a law be passed to authorize every Congressional investigation, and that law must include the exact taxes that will be raised to pay for the investigation.

If Congress keeps doing their damnedest to undermine Planned Parenthood and Roe v' Wade, we'll be returning to back alley abortions. Then what do you suppose happens to that tissue?
