Governor Kasich: Ohio 'on the verge of a recession'

Source: AP via NBC24.com

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio Gov. John Kasich is warning the state could be on the brink of a recession after November revenue came in sharply below estimates.

Kasich, a Republican, issued the warning during a rare visit to the Ohio House during its Tuesday session.

Kasich's warning followed new numbers from the state budget office showing November tax receipts were $99 million, or 5 percent less than estimates.

“Revenues are under estimate for the month as withholding tax collections continue to lag,” Office of Budget and Management spokesman John Charlton said in an email. “Sales and use taxes continue to be below estimates as well.”

On that note. . .if Ohio sinks, I HAVE NO SYMPATHY! They vote Republican, have a Republican run state and their governor is Republican. Sorry, you people in Ohio brought it on yourselves!

Ohio has Democratic Counties. They just don't outweigh the Sea of Tea surrounding Columbus. Even a lot of Northern Counties (including Lorain, what the HELL, they ALWAYS go Democratic!) that voted for Obama went tits-up for Schtroumpf. She only won 7 counties. I didn't know we had this many stupid asses in our state.

Up to 75% of the seats won with 52% of the vote in 2012.

And, for what it's worth, some of the Repubs are actually on board with fixing that problem.

My county voted @ 60% for Hillary and is mainly run by Democrats. Please don't judge all by some.

I've been saying this for months, one can feel and see the lukewarm
spending on eBay or in the stores

Wait until the tariff effects hit, and the health care system shrinks from
ending Obamacare

I actually attribute the slow spending to the election. Households contribute
heavily to their parties so their candidates can place TV ads and jet and limo
everywhere. Breaks the monthly budgets though.

Reality time: Republicans LIKE recessions. The worse they are, the better they like them. Recessions license them to cut all the nasty social spending they hate, and to pass bigger tax cuts (because you have to cut taxes in a recession, don'tcha know?) and more austerity (because without the bucks rolling in, we just can't afford to fix all those chuckholes in the road).

Then when the tax cuts and austerity manage to make the recession worse..."oops, we gotta cut taxes more, we didn't do it enough the last time."

Prison slaves don't have withholding tax, like a real worker because their pay is 20 cents an hour. The for profit prison had a 20 million profit this year, but they don't pay the state anything.

It's not a recession, it's a budget failure and it's his fault. By law he has to balance the state budget.

When he came in he slashed business taxes. Now if he raises them on the working class to make up the fiscal shortcoming he'll be a 1st class Reagan Republican.

I really, really dislike Kasich.
He was a very vocal with his anti-Trump feelings (the one thing I liked about him!) but I do have a feeling things are going to get tough in my state for the next few years.
the Ohio Senate just passed one of the most aggressive anti-abortion bills. they added it to an unrelated bill at the last minute. that's the kind of sneaky shit Ohio Republicans do...

"California analyst projects $2.8 billion budget surplus"

California's nonpartisan legislative analyst said Wednesday he's forecasting a $2.8 billion budget surplus next year and says California should be able to weather a mild recession without major budget cuts or tax increases over the next four years.

And this is before they get all that tax revenue from legal marijuana.

No traffic in NJ near Paramus. No traffic on NY 87 near Harriman, where Woodbury Commons is - two years ago, I sat there for hours, not moving at all.
No traffic and 1/2 empty parking lots.
I think a lot of Americans, the ones with money, are shell-shocked by this election. I know that for me, I absolutely refuse to spend any more $$ than I have to for several reasons:
1. I will not contribute to this economy and especially buy anything from any red states
2. Who knows what is in store for us? I refuse to put anything on credit cards. I'm paying them all off and cutting them up. I'm going to a cash only buying strategy except for online.
I doubt I'm the only one who is pissed and nervous and using my wallet to show it.
