Dems: GOP already undermining Trump's 'Buy America' promise

Source: washingtonexaminer

Senate Democrats are assailing Republicans for removing a "Buy America" provision from the waterways bill that they say President-elect Trump supports but House GOP have worked to eliminate.

Incoming Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., scolded Republicans for seeming to undermine Trump's two main promises on the country's infrastructure rebuilding to "buy American, hire American."

Schumer and Durbin are referring to language in the Senate-passed version of the Water Resources Development Act that would require the use of American iron and steel products in projects using money from the government's drinking Water State Revolving fund. House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., reportedly pushed to strip the provision from the bill.

Sen. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis., also blamed Ryan and House Republicans for the move, arguing that it showed that they are "embracing the status quo in Washington."

But I feel like Trump has already undermined any "Buy American" philosophy with his, his daughter's AND his wife's product lines. Not to mention his penchant for buying Chinese steel to build his buildings.

The Republican Party is nothing more than a giant bait and switch con. The fools who vote for them should learn the truth whether they want to hear it or not.

because their own well being takes a VERY DISTANT back seat to bashing men who have sex with men, slut shaming women who they can't have sex with, making sure "them" don't get other people's tax dollars, etc.

It's a vicious cycle. Americans vote for a Republican that destroys the economy and after everything is in shambles they vote for a Democrat to come in and fix it. Once everything improves under the Democratic President, Americans go and vote for a fucking Republican again and the cycle starts all over again. I just don't know if we'll be able to save America this time.

They know all his populist rantings were just for the rubes and that he truly supports the 1% and only the 1%. The working class is what they want to destroy so the rich can make even more and give them better bribes.

Dems should ask every day in every forum when Trump, his kids and/or his organization are going to move their product manufacturing back to American from overseas. Ask why since Ivanka is moving her line of merchandise from China, it's not coming to the US, but to Africa.
