Sadly the dupes they use will commit violence, eventually. I dont see how this is fixable now that the Russians were allowed to hack our voting machines and caused the illegal election of Donald Trump.

(70,077 posts)believe in these fake stories (like the more recent pizza-gate story!!) -. They need long term psychological help--and doubt they will get it in jail

...............While it may seem unfathomable to some that Richards believed the shooting was a hoax, she is far from alone. A small movement of Sandy Hook Truthers promote conspiracy theories that allege the shooting was staged.
If convicted of all four counts, Richards could face up to 20 years in prison.
Richards is scheduled to appear in a Fort Lauderdale court on Dec. 19.

it horrifies me that a bereft mother of an innocent, murdered child would be harassed and threatened like this. i really do hope they throw the book at her. like don't let her out of prison until she acknowledges that Sandy Hook happened and was a massive tragedy and travesty of this nation's obsession with guns.

(23,061 posts)She needs to be in jail for a long time with court ordered psych treatment. What a total hater and lunatic, OMG.
Although she undoubtedly needs a stretch in a mental hospital, I'm ok with prison too.

(5,485 posts)Riddle me this, though. If all of the victims' families are crisis actors, how are the CTers able to call them at a legitimate number? Oh wait, the government changed their last names to their characters' names, gave them houses in Sandy Hook, and set their phone lines up, right?
(And, of course, nobody in the town of Sandy Hook noticed the new presence of these crisis actors)

(1,513 posts)Alex Jones does the electronic equivalent of shouting "Fire!" in a crowded theater every day. I don't know if he was the actual creator of the Sandy Hook "truther" thing, but he definitely promulgated it. Now he is fanning the flames of the crazy Pizzagate thing which is spreading like a virus among the loons.
Here is the thing--this crazy, irresponsible nutcase is going to get people killed if he hasn't already. There have always been and should be limits to the 1st amendment.
When do we, as a society, start working on a solution to the flaws in our Constitution?
They are literally killing us. The election of Trump is just the latest symptom. Pizzagate is another. The Sandy Hook insanity another.
We are a country being dragged down into madness by our own mentally ill--made strangely powerful by our system.
The ironic fact is that any cure could be far worse than the disease.

If they wanted to, they could summarily shut down these incendiary things. The only reason they don't is they have no morality or feeling of obligation to society.
