WASHINGTON ― The Ohio Republican behind the most extreme abortion restriction in the country, which was passed by the State House and Senate Tuesday night, was accused of domestic violence by his wife in 2011.

State Sen. Kris Jordan (R), the lawmaker who introduced Ohio’s ‘heartbeat’ abortion ban, had to answer to deputies after his wife called 911 to complain that her husband was “pushing her around and throwing things,” according to The Columbus Dispatch. Deputies drove to the senator’s home, where he told them the domestic dispute was “90 percent emotion.”

“I threw some things on the ground, but I didn’t hit her or anything,” he added. “So she’s all worked up about who knows.”

Jordan’s wife, Melissa, declined to press charges. She told deputies that her husband had been acting violent for about two years, usually after a night of drinking. She said he kept 10 to 15 unloaded guns in the house.

Not to mention the wholesale closing of abortion clinics, the defunding of Planned Parenthood? All of those chip away steadily at Roe v Wade. It doesn't have to be directly overturned to be effectively rendered useless.

Women may outnumber men, but not in the state legislatures and not in the House or Senate at the national level.

Roe v. Wade has been the emotional pot stirrer for the Republicans. Just like they never intended Trump to be President, they never actually intended to reverse Roe v. Wade.

BUT...(there's always a "but&quot , just like they now don't know what to do with the idiots who supported Trump who became angry and embittered by the Republicans and formed the extreme Tea Party, they now don't know what to do with those same, fervent idiots who want women to be slaves.

So, the Republicans will continue to push for the reversal of Roe v. Wade most notably when Trump makes a Supreme Court pick. He will pick some crazy-ass, extreme religious person who hates women and will sway the court and eventually Roe v. Wade will be reversed.

THIS is what was at stake in this election that not enough people paid attention to. Myself and others were screaming from the roof tops about this but the topic NEVER got the attention that it deserved.

I keep hearing that people want to talk about jobs! Well, women cannot ever have equality if they cannot have control over their own bodies. It takes equality to do well in a job, too.

I believe that if that time comes, and it will if "he that will not be named" picks an idiot to the Supreme Court, we will outnumber them. Don't forget, it takes 2/3 votes to override a Supreme Court ruling.

You don't have to be specific but I am curious what age bracket you fit into?

Between 20 and 30?

30 and 40?

40 and 50?

50 and 60?

60 and 70?

Etc.

The reason that I ask is because of a conversation with some cousins several weeks ago. I'm in my late 50's and these cousins are in their late 60's. I found that because of the age difference we had some pretty stark views on women's rights. Like me, they are definitely feminists, but their attitudes about fighting for those rights are much different than mine.

57 last month and I went to Chicago in my teens with a girl that I went to high school (in '76) that got pregnant and was not ready for motherhood (not to mention, her parents would have thrown her out of the house...where is the boy's/man's responsibility for this?) and will defend this right for the rest of my life!!!

Those younger ones that have had legal abortions known to them have no idea the HISTORY of how we got there...so I understand that they have no idea what is at stake. I had dinner with someone a couple of years ago that did not realize the implications of feminism because she had no idea that women were treated so badly just a few decades ago...they need to be taught what it was like for us. They need to live it to understand it. damn it all.

Yes, Trump certainly will.

But there will remain a 5 to 4 majority on the Court acknowledging settled, accepted 14th Amendment jurisprudence safeguarding the privacy rights of women.

If Ginsburg, Breyer, and Kennedy remain on the bench until after the 2020 election, and if Trump fails to win re-election, then Griswold/Eisenstadt/Roe/Casey/Whole Women’s Health will likely not be overturned.

If, however, one of the non-social conservative justices leaves the Court, and Trump makes a second appointment, then the privacy rights of women are clearly in jeopardy.
