(20,868 posts)More of the lovely triple plate action. There are big quakes that hit there a lot. About 20+ years ago there were two 7+ magnitude quakes in one night. Scared the hell out of me and yeah, I felt it alright!

Bad area for tsunamis if there is one (steep coastal bluffs, few escape routes)

Farewell to the likes of Petrolia, Ferndale and other adjacent areas that are right there.

(20,868 posts)Wondering if there will be a batch of them like the night there were two 7+ magnitude ones (from the same area) in one night.
This is a dangerous area, nice but dangerous.
Tourists go to Ferndale and love it. Many want to move there. I try to warn them but, do they listen?
I wouldn't care to live in Ferndale for any reason at all! Too dicey for the likes of me!

(31,156 posts)I was 5 miles from the Napa earthquake epicenter in 2014. When you're that close you quickly gain respect for the magnitude of even a 6.0. I hope I'm long before the Big One strikes the Bay Area.

(36,280 posts)Yeah, seems odd that it would shake in Oregon but not in between the epicenter and there.
