China 'seriously concerned' after Trump questions Taiwan policy

Source: The Guardian

In an interview with Fox News on Sunday, the president-elect said he saw no reason why the US should continue abiding by the One China policy under which Washington does not recognize Taiwan as a sovereign state unless Beijing was prepared to enter into some kind of bargain. "I don't know why we have to be bound by a One China policy unless we make a deal with China having to do with other things, including trade," Trump told the channel.

Washingtons acceptance of the One China principle according to which Taiwan is officially regarded as part of the same single Chinese nation as the mainland has been a crucial part of the foundation of US-China relations since ties between the two countries were re-established by Richard Nixon and Mao Zedong in 1972.

Trumps comments drew an angry riposte from Beijing. Geng Shuang, a spokesman for Chinas foreign ministry, told reporters that bilateral ties and the sound and steady growth of China-US relations would be out of the question were Trump to turn away from the One China policy.

Whose Father in laws shipping business is out of Taiwan? Whose wife just got a job in the incoming Trump administration? Who has virtually no friends in the Republican Party and insults Republicans regularly? Who has advertised he wants to operate government as cut throat capitalism? Let's make a deal to bad if a few losers get killed in the process Mitch deserves to be a winner and the Orange haired creep needs a friend.

Besides being a complete being a drooling brain dead idiot, he wants to start some shooting wars across the globe. This is untenable, the media must be screaming this from the mountain tops.

or negotiation. We will wake up one morning, and the People's Republic of China will have taken over Taiwan.

Trump is really a loose canon. He hasn't even been inaugurated, and he is now putting Asia into jeopardy

He is really a loose canon, and playing with fire.
