White nationalist Richard Spencer 'seriously considering' run for Congress if Montana seat vacated

Richard Spencer, the inflammatory white nationalist leader from Dallas, said Tuesday he is "seriously considering" running for Congress following news that Montana's sole congressman, Ryan Zinke, was chosen as President-elect Trump's nominee for secretary of the interior.

If approved, Zinke would vacate his congressional seat, forcing an election to replace him. Republican and Democratic parties would select candidates to run in a primary election. Spencer, who splits his time between Whitefish, Mont., and Arlington, Va., said he would run as an independent, allowing him a shot at the seat.

"If I did this, it would not be some eccentric campaign that no one talks about and is a footnote to history," Spencer told the Huffington Post last week. "It would become a major conversation around the country just because of my profile in the alt-right. Again, I would only do it to win it."

Spencer, a 38-year-old Dallas native and graduate of St. Mark's School of Texas prep school, is director and president of the National Policy Institute, a white-nationalist think tank he plans to use as a vessel to push Trump. Spencer has called Trump an "alt-right hero" and the "first step" toward politics that promote pro-white policies.

against Montana citizens. Any number of GOP candidates in Montana have criminal and racist backgrounds which doesn't seem to deter voters.

What he may need to worry about is disclosing his income sources and the residency requirements as he lives and votes in Arlington, VA not Whitefish, Montana. Even conservative Montanans do not like carpetbagger candidates.

Spencer told the Missoulian Friday he has been spending “less and less” time in Whitefish, where his parents live, and more in Arlington, Virginia, where he has an apartment and where the National Policy Institute is located.

“It’ll probably be a lot less time (in Whitefish) in 2017,” Spencer said. “I’ve long thought that, as my movement grows, it makes sense for me to be on the East Coast, in Washington, D.C.”

<snip>

Spencer said he last considered himself a full-time Whitefish resident in 2012 or 2013, and has split his time between Montana and Virginia since.

Spencer may claim to represent Montana values but he hasn't got the job just yet. There are plenty of NATIVE Montanans who think he should stay in Arlington where he belongs. White Aryan Assholes like Spencer are not unique to Montana any more, or less, than they are California, New York or Minnesota, although these days you can find quite a few of them concentrated in and around Washington, DC.

I used to live in Arlington. It had the widest margin of Hillary's vote percent versus *****'s vote percent of any locality in the country, IIRC. 538 has that info. It's at DU too.

George Lincoln Rockwell

I imagine Spencer is worried about being doxxed. If he's a Virginia resident, he won't be able keep that information hidden for long.
