A security guard made a gruesome discovery in Albuquerque, New Mexico, after the naked body of a man was found beheaded and castrated behind a local Walmart.
Officers tentatively described the victim as a 42-year-old while male but said they did not yet know his identity or where he is from.
The cause of death remains unknown and police do not know if the suspected murder is related to drug cartels or gangs.

(111,245 posts)and he was found in one of the "nice" parts of the city. They think he was killed elsewhere and dumped. The age might have been established by a tattoo.
Somebody really, really doesn't want him identified. It looks like they did want him found, though.
This one trips the weird-o-meter even in this town, where weird murders happen fairly often, depending on the quality of meth getting in. So far, it smells a little like a Mexican cartel hit.

I'll take a stab at it and say beheading ... however, the person could've died from blood loss due to castration first.

(20,998 posts)I'm thinking maybe the "beheading" may have had something to do with it, eh?

(111,245 posts)Even with a competent executioner with a special axe, it required multiple blows in Tudor England. DAESH and al Qaeda beheadings were messes that required a hell of a lot of sawing on somebody who was already dead.
My guess is that if they locate the head (follow the vultures on the West Mesa), they'll probably find a bullet hole in it.
cstanleytech
(26,283 posts)the gun or atleast the type of weapon used if the bullet was still inside the skull and if it was recovered.
Warpy
(111,245 posts)although unless they found the head and aren't talking, they didn't need to use it.
It's a bizarre crime, even for this town.

(26,283 posts)since without that it makes a case alot harder to prove without that unless there is a video from a security camera near that captured the likely vehicle used to transport and dump the body.

(14,853 posts)I feel fortunate to be alive after "debating" a racist in a biker bar a few years ago. I put debating in quotation marks because I didn't get very loud or passionate about it since I could tell I'd wandered into the WRONG PLACE on a whim.
I assumed that my kid gloves approach worked, but I was knocked out from behind as soon as I left. I awoke in an ER getting stitches to my face with a gigantic bump on the back of my head... like I'd been clobbered with a pipe or something. All of the cash in a pant pocket was stolen too, so it's possible that robbery was the main motivation, but I still think the earlier unwanted conversation with a racist who looked like a former prison inmate had something to do with it.

(14,853 posts)It USED to be a friendly little place about 15 years earlier which was the last time I'd been in there -- people singing karaoke and the like.
I should have turned around right away, but I figured I'd get a beer at the bar first. Then the lunatic approached me and told me how he'd never seen me in there before. He tried to sell the place to me, saying I should become a regular there. I'm VERY white and I keep my hair short because I'm pretty bald on top anyway, so maybe he thought I looked like a skinhead or something? That's when he started his racist and anti-Obama commentary. After I politely disagreed with him, he eventually glared at me and walked back to his group of buddies sitting in a corner. I figured that was the end of it.
I walked home from the hospital the next morning. It was in the middle of a mostly AA community, and there were guys there who acted kind of happy to see that I was bruised, puffy and covered in dried blood. None of them assaulted me, though! It still made thoughts go through my head like, "I can't win!"
Anyway, bars are bad news period. I thought I was done with them years ago, but that last experience was the final straw! I might still go inside a drinking establishment if it's mostly a restaurant, I guess.
I almost forgot to mention... the cops who found my unconscious body outside walked inside to ask what happened to me, and people said I was acting crazy and I hurt myself outside! The cops believed them! Well, it's more likely they just didn't give a damn about doing a real investigation.

(13,524 posts)intact - what a brutal night!! Are you at liberty to say what town you were in, or even what state? (just nosy) - again, this awful night turned out a whole lot better than it might have, but oy, scary
Buckeye_Democrat
(14,853 posts)It was in a pretty nice, low-crime suburb (overall).
After I saw the police report a couple days later, I looked up the name of the barmaid on Facebook. She indeed had an account, but she didn't reveal what happened to me like I'd hoped. My assault apparently wasn't important enough to bring up or she was part of it.
She attended a high school in a more crummy part of Dayton. I scrolled down her FB page and noticed that she'd previously celebrated her baby's father being sent to prison and she also had a sister whose dog was killed in some kind of drug bust.
EDIT: By the way, I was PISSED about it and thought about taking justice into my own hands for awhile. If you ever saw the original "Walking Tall" movie, I had those kinds of thoughts about dealing with that bar. I eventually treated it more like a valuable lesson not to ever repeat. I also had no idea who actually attacked me since I was knocked unconscious so quickly.

(14,853 posts)Blows to the head can be dangerous! People sometimes die from a brain injury just from being punched in the face!
Leghorn21
(13,524 posts)brain injuries are just so so difficult to deal with, for all concerned, omg (had a friend in motorcycle wreck years ago - 7 skull fractures - he freakin "recovered", but was so crazy and out of control afterwards, poor thing) -
"Walking Tall" indeed! I can dig it!
Baby daddy in prison, dog killed in raid? - yeah, glad your nights in bars are OVAH!!
Buckeye_Democrat
(14,853 posts)... according to the FB posts, pretty much set the tone for that bar. They might have even attracted shady people they'd known over the years too.
I was put through all kinds of diagnostic tests while I was unconscious at the hospital, and I supposedly had no brain injury. I remained dizzy for a couple days, however!
The hospital was happy to get my insurance information the next day. I'd left my wallet in my car (parked behind another building near the bar) and stuffed a wad of cash into a pocket before I walked in there. The hospital knew my name and birthday because I apparently told the police without being consciously aware of it! (They assumed that I was slurring from being drunk, according to the report.)
That one ER visit wiped out my out-of-pocket maximum for the year! I later chose to finally get a years-long hernia fixed... which I'd probably still have if not for the assault.
I'm sorry about your friend! Yeah, head injuries are obviously no joke! I still follow Ohio State football, but I sometimes think I should stop "supporting it" because of the reports of CTE among football players.

(24,128 posts)KOB obtained a photo of 42-year-old Clifford Miller that was taken in 2000 after he was booked for unlawfully growing marijuana in Oklahoma.
Miller came to Albuquerque a few months ago from McAlester, Oklahoma, where the state penitentiary is located. It is not known if he might have worked there or knew someone inside. Police say Miller was in Albuquerque looking for work.
