Texas officer shot black man as he walked away, dashcam video suggests

Source: Associated Press

David Collie left paralyzed after being shot in the back in July, lawyer says

Two officers claim 33-year-old man threatened them with box cutter

Associated Press in Forth Worth, Texas
28 December 2016 13.54 EST

A police dashcam video appears to show a Texas officer shoot a black man as he is walking away from the officer and not posing any immediate threat.

A lawyer for David Collie released a copy of the video showing the July encounter with a Fort Worth officer and a Tarrant County sheriffs deputy. The officer and deputy were off duty at the time and working a security detail together at an apartment complex, attorney Nate Washington said on Wednesday.

He said Collie was shot in the back, leaving him paralyzed.

Police at the time were searching for two shirtless black men who they believed had committed a robbery near a gas station, Washington said. Authorities said in a news release they issued at the time that Collie pulled a box cutter from his pocket and pointed it at the officers.

Why do the cops get to use a squad car and wear their uniforms when they're off duty?

At least one officer drew his weapon almost as soon as he was out of the car.
If they were off duty what are they doing driving a police vehicle??
He was walking away.
They left him lay there for at least 10 minutes before ambulance.
Attempted murder.

If a policeman pulls a gun on you and you fear for your life are you allowed to protect yourself??

This happens way too often...................

That's how long it appeared to take, from exiting the car to shooting the victim.
that policeman must have only had one thing on his mind.
Shooting someone.
