Biden endorses Perez for DNC chair

Source: The Hill

Former Vice President Joe Biden is backing Tom Perez's bid to lead the Democratic National Committee (DNC), he announced Wednesday.

Biden, who served with the former Labor secretary during the Obama administration, lauded Perez as a "man of integrity and vision."

"He knows what it means to be a Democrat — that we are a party that fights for economic fairness for working families and believes that everyone is entitled to be treated with dignity, regardless of who they are, where they come from, or who they love," Biden said of Perez in a statement.

"We have a lot of good people vying for this important job. But I do think for this moment and in this time, Tom Perez is our best bet to help bring the party back. I’ve watched him work. I think I know his heart. That’s why I endorse him as the next Chairman of the DNC."

Doing something over and over again and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity. Sorry but the party needs to move in a drastically different direction. Kieth Ellison is the man to do that.

I supported Bernie but comparing both side by side Perez is the better communicator I think. He also ran DOL and I thought he DOL was one of the more progressive branches of the Obama admin.

First I think having Kieth Ellison as the head of the DNC would be the right optics and the perfect contrast to all the Islamophobic bigoted hate spewing forth from the clockwork orange man and the Republicans. Second I think its time this proud party of ours gets back to its FDR roots and abandon the DLC mantra of centrists politics that took hold in the party in the 1990's. And third I want to see President Obama's ban on the DNC accepting corporate donations reinstated and Keith is the only candidate I see doing that. Debbie should have never changed that rule in my opinion.

I know Ellison said he would quit his house seat, but that would be a bad idea IMO.

Perez is really well-spoken, and he is a fighter.

Brings fresh young blood into the party and supports a 50 state strategy. We need to get competitive at everything from dog catcher to the Oval Office - from Alaska to Wyoming.

I just want the position filled so the party can map out a strategy for 17, 18, and 20...

DNC leadership needs to get it through their skulls that nobody will be 100% happy whoever is selected and move on....

FWIW, the RWers on Twitter are furiously jerking themselves off over the thought of another inter-party fight and are actively stoking the Perez vs. Ellison fires...

Voting starts in only 20 months and primaries in 16 months. Either Ellison or Perez is good. More important to get this "selection"over with and start repairing the damage to our Party of the last eight years. With Trump & the Repubs it is now an uphill struggle that we need all our resources and voices organized against.asap.

We really need to move the vote up a week or two. The DNC already had to kick out a candidate for an extremist statement. The longer it goes, only help keep the primary wounds fresh.

in regard to DNC and our reeling PARTY is some fight and a direction that will specifically mirror the contrasts between the liars club, the republiKKKans, and our PARTY of sanity. Just some fucking fight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All this BS about who's right and wrong for the leadership of DNC is sad.....good luck america.....
