Senate Republicans suspend rules to approve Trump's EPA chief pick over Democrats' boycott

Source: Reuters

02 FEB 2017 AT 11:26 ET

A Senate committee suspended rules on Thursday to approve President Donald Trumps controversial choice to lead the Environmental Protection Agency on Thursday amid a boycott of his nomination by the panels Democratic members.

Wyoming Senator John Barrasso, chair of the environment and public works committee, said the committee would suspend several rules temporarily to approve the nomination of Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt as EPA administrator.

The panels Democrats boycotted Wednesdays meeting to approve Pruitt, saying that the nominee doubts the science of climate change and had too many conflicts of interest with the companies he is charged with regulating.

first, the repukes don't give a shit whether there is a dem there or not. this is there agenda.

and for those of us that say, "they own this", that is such bullshit. WE all OWN this.

we all will have to deal with these fuck ups that will destroy the environment.

bottom line is this: the dems continue to play Queensberry rules while the repukes laugh at us while cleaning their switchblades.

tRump/Bannon are destroying all agencies. We know tRrump hates the Congress what was he saying about those term limits for congress members. Maybe to flush them out and to get more right wing guys in?

we Democrats can't influence anything, when we try they change the rules
which is why I suggested disbanding Congress ... and incidentally, if Trump
is still in office in 5-6 years, I do think he will try it. The Rump Parliament was
of course in 1648 when dissenters were booted. It's almost what the GOP
is doing here.

a consensus government.

He made a few recess appointments because the gop was trying to cripple the government. They went to court.

Shouldn't we go to court over a 'suspension of the rules'?

We need a constitutional scholar here. Are these rules actually in the Constitution, and can they be legally defended?
