IDAHO GOVERNOR SAYS CHRISTIAN REFUGEES DESERVE PRIORITY
BY KIMBERLEE KRUESI
ASSOCIATED PRESS

BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- Idaho Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter says he agrees with President Donald Trump that persecuted Christians should be treated as priority in the U.S. refugee program despite acknowledging that such preference is discriminatory.

"It is," Otter said during an interview on Idaho Public Television's Idaho Reports. &quot But) we want a safe country."

Otter made his remarks during an interview with Idaho Public Television's Idaho Reports, which aired Friday. The 30-minute interview touched on the governor's thoughts on immigration, transportation and trade, but it also highlighted specifically President Donald Trump's latest actions regarding immigration and refugees.

The executive order signed by Trump suspends immigration from seven Muslim-majority countries for 90 days and all refugee resettlement for 120 days. It provides exceptions for refugees who practice a religion that makes them a minority in their home country. On Friday, however, a federal judge temporarily blocked Trump's ban after Washington state and Minnesota urged a nationwide hold on the executive order that has launched legal battles across the country. The White House said Friday night it will seek an emergency stay of the federal judge's order.

He says probably but doesn't know about it. Really? He has no access to newspapers, television, radio or internet? Another example of power being held by someone with blatant prejudice.

I don't trust Christian refugees any more than any other religion, and in many cases less so. I prefer refugees who believe in Reality and not fiction, who aren't prejudiced towards other religions, women, or non-Christians. When the US decided to let in Russians it got stuck with former KGB officers claiming to be Jewish and Christian, and have become some of the largest organized crime operations in the history of the country. Law enforcement focuses on Mexican gangs and forgets all about the immigrants from the former Soviet Union and its fellow states. I have yet to hear Donnie Peepee say anything about Russian gangsters. I wonder if it's because he's in their hip pocket.

Dipshit

This is why Trump's people went with countries instead of religion. To avoid lawsuits claiming they are violating the 1st amendment to our constitution.

Almost on a par with your neighboring state, Oregon, where I reside. Must say, the Frank Church Wilderness is awe-inspiring! I have a good friend who lives in Boise. She's a Democrat but kinda keeps it to herself, with good reason, I'm guessing, thanks to those backward hillbillies you mention. Glad you're not among them! We've also got more then our fair share of right wing redneck types in Eastern Oregon. Gotta stay strong!

Peace.

Idaho, Washington, and Oregon are beautiful - but Idaho, eastern Washington, and eastern Oregon are pretty uptight places. I will say the number of progressives are growing in Idaho but it's one hell of an uphill struggle.

When my wife retires in a couple of years we'll find a more liberal community in the Northwest - which won't be hard considering where we currently live.

Peace!

Well if so many are persecuted they can all move from Oklahoma, Texas, Kanas, the entire South to Idaho. They can all live together there in their own little "Private Idaho."

He doesn't look to 'Butch' in that photo.

Would be mistaken for Muslims and harassed by the right-wingers.

These people are racists. I'm half Native American and a friend of mine was once mistaken for an Arab Muslim (no kidding) by a middle-aged white lady. He was taking down the American flag at the end of the day were he worked, and the racist lady complained to his supervisor that it was offensive to have a Muslim taking the flag down. lol
