Pushing back at President Donald Trumps attacks on the network, CNN has said no thanks to a White House offer of Kellyanne Conway to speak for the president on this weeks State of the Union show on Sunday.
According to the Huffington Post, Vice President Mike Pence will appear on NBCs Meet the Press, ABCs This Week, CBSs Face the Nation, and Fox News Sunday, but no White House official will be on CNNs State of the Union with host Jake Tapper.
The Huffington Post reports that a White House spokesperson said they offered multiple guests for State of the Union and they declined.
According to the report Pence was not offered as an option to CNN which has been the subject of intense criticism from the president and his defenders but senior adviser Conway was suggested only to have the network decline the offer.

Of course, many previous acts ALWAYS have some pre-recorded audio as part of their show.

I would like to see all the news programs refuse Kellyann and the others. They only want to spin their propaganda. I personally, can't listen to it.

Which feedback link did you use? I feel like weighing in, too.
I heard Howard Dean this week talking about how critical our input is. He stated that there were some reps who sat up and took notice when they got SIX - EIGHT calls on a issue a week. That's IT? If 6-8 calls make an impression, just imagine several dozen or hundred? They're REALLY noticing these days, what with the call/email/letter loads being logged now. Heck, according to the reports I've seen on this, the switchboards are so overloaded they're completely breaking down!
Hey reps, can you hear us NOW???

(269 posts)Here's the link to their feedback form: http://www.cnn.com/feedback
And here's what I wrote:
"Look, the people of America look to you to tell the truth. The current administration obviously doesn't value truth or the Bill of Rights. They are running the White House like a men's locker room. Everyone can see the blatant corruption and bullying taking place and it would be difficult to take anything said by Sean Spicer or Kellyann Conway seriously. Anyone who uses the phrase "alternative facts", while entertaining to witness, does not deserve to have the floor. Spicer doesn't even want to answer questions when that's his job. The Trump administration has nurtured this idea of not having to be accountable - to the press, to the law and most importantly, to Americans. So stop covering Sean Spicer or Kellyann Conway. All the mainstream networks need to agree that covering them is damaging because you're broadcasting their propaganda to the world. It's irresponsible, and by broadcasting it you're helping to spread it. I love the constant running commentary by your hosts, and how they attack every lie that's told. But it isn't enough to discourage what Spicer and Conway are doing. They need to be forced to be accountable. They're being paid by the very people they're deceiving. This is a dangerous trend to be starting in government and all sorts of forces need to come together to stop it. As members of media, your role is being attacked and your credibility being questioned because of this administration. Don't stand for it. They are working for an egomaniac who has always fed off attention, who doesn't tire of being hated and controversial. They are being encouraged by him and by Bannon to foster these things with their American audience. Remember what Bannon said about the press last week? Trump and his team repeatedly say they're in a war with the media - so fight back. Your job as journalists is to get the truth. Nobody is getting that from this administration. PLEASE stop broadcasting Spicer and Conway. Stop having them on your shows."

(5,940 posts)I'm just tired of all the ragging on this despicable woman regarding her looks. People simply don't talk about men in the same way, and in the rare circumstances that they do, they certainly don't pile it on like people have with Conway. The woman makes my blood boil, but I think we do women in general a disservice by making looks so much more of an issue with women than men.
As for Trump, he is certainly fair play given that he is obsessed with looks and is constantly commenting on whether people are attractive enough to suit him.
Personally, I think Kellyanne is a hell of a lot better looking than the likes of Bannon and Reince, but I rarely hear anything said about the looks of either of those grotesque individuals.

If you don't really believe that, just go to someone's 40th or 50th high school reunion, and you'll discover the the living smokers (they tend to die off noticeably younger) look at least 10 years older than the never-smoked, and by the 50th, as much as 20 years older. And they just look awful.
I was at a 50th a year or so ago, and when a former classmate (I'll call her Ann) chatted with me for a bit, I was horrified at her appearance. Ghastly is the word that comes to mind. A heavily lined face, dull skin and hair, and just looked terrible. Worse yet, she'd probably been the prettiest girl in the class fifty years ago. I would not have recognized her were we not all wearing name tags, and the brief conversation we had left me saddened.
In Conway's case, I think her meanness of spirit shows on her face, but I strongly suspect she smokes like the veritable chimney.

(5,106 posts)Kellyanne would not look like such a hag if she stopped trying to look like a college girl ( she even does the junior high hair flip). As a middle-aged professional woman in the national eye, surely she could afford a good makeover. Mitch McConnell is the male counterpart for having fun made of his turtle-like looks. Anyone who is so despicable and in front of the public just brings out the worst in even the otherwise kindest among us.

(20,998 posts)I have commented many times on DU and other places just how fucking chilling this was (and I paraphrase):
Setting: Comey has just done his Violation of the Hatch Act "we found new emails" spiel:
Television host asks Conjob*: what if there is nothing new in those emails, what if there is nothing at all??
Conjob: "It's already out there. It's already affected Hillary Clinton." And then she kind of looks past the camera and utters what I can only interpret as some type of justification: "they were her emails, she should not have used a private email server."
And I admit, I paraphrase. HOWEVER, the words may be slightly different, but the context was the same. SHE *KNEW* the emails were a big fat nothing, and SHE KNEW the only reason Comey pulled his illegal shit was to negatively influence the election for Clinton. She knew this. I would call her a liar to her face if she said otherwise.

(17,099 posts)Thank you so much for not allowing Kellyanne Conway on CNN's State of the Union this Sunday.
Conway has proven herself to be nothing more than a liar, an obfuscator, and a waste of time. She refuses to directly answer questions; she tries to disgorge a mountain of words to conceal her ignorance.
Conway is nothing more than a blathering propaganda mouthpiece for the Trump administration. Her lies are not welcome. If you had brought her on to your show, you would have validated the lies of the Trump administration.
She is sent out to distract and confuse Americans who have valid questions about real and serious issues. She hijacks every media outlet she appears on. She is a bad actor.
After a long absence, CNN is finally returning to it's news and investigation roots. The United States, and the world, desperately needs this from you now.
