Republicans face anger over Obamacare repeal during town halls

Source: POLITICO

Two Republican lawmakers representing reliably conservative districts on opposite ends of the country on Saturday faced down heated questions from Obamacare supporters, demanding that Congress preserve the program.

Fervent backers of the health care law shouted down Rep. Tom McClintock (R-Calif.) during a town hall meeting, blasting his views on the Obamacare repeal and President Donald Trumps immigration ban. Hundreds of demonstrators showed up some as early as 6:30 a.m. to a theater in downtown Roseville, just northeast of Sacramento.

McClintock was escorted by police out of the town hall meeting after it ended, as the crowd outside the theater shouted Resist! and "Shame!"

In Pinellas County, Fla., Gus Bilirakis, who represents a district Trump won, was on the defensive as voters packed a town hall on Obamacare. For more than two hours, Bilirakis listened to stories from his constituents young, old, black and white who implored him to not repeal the federal health care law without having a replacement ready.

To take away the Affordable Care Act is taking away my freedom and justice, said Evan Thornton, a 21-year-old St. Petersburg College student who said he was diagnosed with Marfan Syndrome at 16 and has stayed on his mothers insurance because of Obamacare. Its taking away my life.

and now they're completely flabbergasted that he and the Congressional Republicans are moving swiftly to repeal the ACA. Apparently not a single one of them was paying much attention during the entire election, and somehow didn't notice that the R's voted however many dozen times to try to repeal it in the past six years.

I'm just sorry all the rest of us have to suffer because of their stupidity.

to "her e-mails", "her e-mails", "her e-mails". Or, as someone pointed out here a while back, it might have really been "her female!"

NPR tech piece from Friday's All Things Considered: Is Trump Tweeting From a 'Secure' Smartphone? The White House Won't Say

"Donald Trump for the longest time has been using a insecure Android phone that by all reports is so easy to compromise, it would not meet the security requirements of a teenager," says Nicholas Weaver, a computer scientist at the University of California at Berkeley.

Weaver doesn't have any first-hand knowledge of the security standards on Trump's phone. But he says knowing that a sitting president has an insecure Android, "we must assume that his phone has actively been compromised for a while, and a actively compromised phone is literally a listening device."

"Despite the show of support for Obamacare at the town hall, McClintock said he believes the majority of Americans want a better health care plan.

“If people loved [Obamacare]," he said, "Nancy Pelosi would still be speaker and Hillary Clinton would be president.""

The teabaggers took delight in disrupting the Democrats' townhall meetings to promote Affordable Care 7 years ago - with shout-downs and birther nonsense. And now the teabaggers who joined with Trump are getting a taste of their own poison. Poor babies.

simply said that a businessman is what we need to run the country. They didn't really think it much past that.

And in the cartoon world of ignorance they live in, Donald Trump is the most successful businessman in the history of mankind. I actually heard very little hatred towards Hillary.

They are the same people who elected Arnold Schwartzenagger Governor. They would tell you he's been so successful at so many different things he will be successful as Governor. I just kept hearing that word "successful" constantly.

clearly hasn't any idea that there might be some very fundamental differences between a government and a business.

And the kind of businessman Trump has been bodes very badly for this country. He clearly sees not paying contractors and declaring bankruptcy to be valid business practices. If our government starts doing those things we will be in deep doo-doo, to coin a phrase.

1. From this point forward the term Obamacare will never be used again in any congressional speeches or legislation.
2. From this point forward we will work with the other side of the isle to fix the problems in the Affordable Care Act.

Obamacare would be history and the ACA would get fix to insure that 20 million enrollees would not lose their healthcare.

With Fox news on board the Republicans could make it work.

Otherwise they are shall we say screwed. Their voters are catching on with the fact that they have been lied to. And they are not happy. And the resistance will continue to grow.
