Trump says Pence will lead investigation into non-existent voter fraud
The president still wont back down from his lies about illegal voting.

In a pre-Super Bowl interview that aired on Sunday, President Donald Trump told Fox News Bill OReilly that he would establish a commission led by Vice President Mike Pence to investigate allegations of widespread voter fraud.
Were going to look at it very, very carefully, said Trump.
There is, of course, no widespread voter fraud, and multiple independent observers have debunked Trumps claims to the contrary. But the president has spent weeks repeating the false claim that undocumented immigrants cast three to five million votes against him a lie that seems intended to explain away his loss of the popular vote by more than two million ballots cast.
In response to questioning about the voter fraud lie, White House press secretary Sean Spicer indicated in late January that the Trump administration would pursue an investigation into it. Not long after, Pence privately told Republican members of Congress that there would be a full evaluation of voting rolls in this country. Trump seemed poised to sign an executive order mandating some kind of inquiry.

Earlier Sunday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said that he didnt think federal funds should be spent on a voter fraud investigation................

Just as Trump does not know the difference between Green Cards and visas, he does not know the difference between dual voting and dual registration.

(9,524 posts)laws. The Fox crowd totally believes it. Millions of votes suppressed, not millions voting twice.
Why is it so hard to get Dems to take election fraud seriously?
THis is cause for concern: "Pence privately told Republican members of Congress that there would be a full evaluation of voting rolls in this country." They will no doubt have Kurt Kobach run Crosscheck, which supposedly "evaluates voter rolls." Oregon decided not to use it because it gave unreliable results but it's a great tool to purge voters and selectively suppress votes.

(1,570 posts)That's where all of this is leading. It's the core of their 18' and 20' campaign.
(Along with ending all early voting, "modernising" (paperless) voting, "authorized" poll watchers and of course expanding voter purges.)

If Pence does end up as our President, we still have to remain vigilant and resist. He is awful.

(26,284 posts)Republicans in Congress dont really want an investigation is that they have something to hide.
After all they are willing to fund the pointless and therefore wasteful wall with billions of taxpayer money but not a little money to investigate voter fraud which they have pushed as happening and therefore why there needs to be voter ID laws? Thats another reason why I think they are the ones with something to hide.

(70 posts)Ranking Democrats should jump in board and demand that it include issues such as how the votes are counted (I don't trust electronic voting machines), how polling places are allocated, how we are ensuring that everyone eligible to vote has free and easy access to an id in states where that will end up being a requirement. They are not going to find much voter fraud, but these other areas are ripe for picking as there are certainly issues there.

I doubt they will find much if any voter fraud, on the other hand we will probably find a lot of other things that are interfering with free and fair elections. The Democrats should jump right in the middle, encourage cooperation if we look at the entire voting process.
