UPDATED Donald Trump claims the 'very dishonest press' is covering up terror attacks

President Donald Trump on Monday accused the media of covering up terrorist attacks in Europe.

Trump said that terrorism had gotten so bad that its not even being reported. And in many cases the very, very dishonest press doesnt want to report it.

They have their reasons and you understand that, the president added. Trump was speaking at the MacDill Air Force Base in Florida.

Last week, Trumps senior advisor Kellyanne Conway complained that an event that never happened what she called the Bowling Green massacre didnt get covered by the media.

UPDATE:

Trump pushes InfoWars conspiracy theory that press ‘doesn’t want to report’ on terror attacks

ELIZABETH PREZA
06 FEB 2017 AT 20:27 ET

Donald Trump on Monday made controversial—and largely unsubstantiated—claim that “the very dishonest press doesn’t want to report” on violent attacks carried out by terrorist around the world.

“It’s gotten to a point where it’s not even being reported,” the president told a group of senior commanders at MacDill Air Force Base. “And in many cases, the very, very dishonest press doesn’t want to report it.”

“They have their reasons, and you understand that,” he added.

As observers pointed out Trump’s statement alleging the intentional underreporting of terror attacks by the media is “completely divorced from reality.” But as Twitter user @UrbanAchievr notes, the claim of the “mainstream” media neglecting to cover specific terror attacks is a theory pushed by the Alex Jones-run website InfoWars.

Its just too damn fun to make jokes about him. They write themselves.

But it creates an atmosphere of just "laughing it off". Kelly Anne Conway commented on the SNL portrayal of her that she liked the "day off" sketch. And yeah, it was funny. But I felt that the adorable Kate McKinnon's portrayal as the exasperated 'just wanna have fun" Conway was counter productive.

As well, I may be in the minority, but I think they could have done better than Alex Baldwin as Trump. He does not have the voice or inflections anywhere close. And his portrayal of him as the bumbling idiotic fool is way too one dimensional.

Trump claims media is covering up terror attacks, citing no evidence

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-claims-media-is-covering-up-terror-attacks/

“It’s gotten to a point where it’s not even being reported. In many cases, the very, very dishonest press doesn’t want to report it. They have their reasons and you understand that,” Mr. Trump said.

There is no evidence that any media outlet is covering up terrorist attacks.

This comes after his adviser, Kellyanne Conway, alluded to the “Bowling Green Massacre,” which never happened, in an effort to defend the administration’s travel ban, but the event never happened. She later claimed that she misspoke and meant “Bowling Green terrorists” but Cosmopolitan said Monday that Conway had also referred to the fake massacre in an interview with one of its reporters.

Mon Feb 6, 2017, 04:38 PM

Okay. Let's grant for a minute that the newspapers are covering up terrorist attacks.

Some observations:
-- Blood and gore sells newspapers. Why would they cover up anything like this?

-- This would also suggest that there is an international conspiracy among all media organizations. After all, newspapers around the world would have to commit to not reporting terrorist attacks.

-- This would also mean that US embassies and consulates world are failing in their efforts to report on terrorist attacks and their host countries' reactions and responses. Even discounting the 900+ "traitors" who signed that dissent channel message, surely the Drumpfenfuhrer supporters would report accurately to their Dear Leader. Or not. Whoo boy, that's some conspiracy.

-- Then there are the Legal Attaches and Defense attaches worldwide who are also part of the conspiracy not to report on terrorist attacks. Holy shit, this is frightening!?#!

-- Oh my. This would also suggest that the 17 or so agencies that make up the Intelligence Community, and who are also scattered around the world, are also failing to report and analyze terrorist attacks and their implications to US foreign policy and response.

Or, the more likely response is that he's fucking insane. And, what's almost worse is the Republicans just let it slide.

Every day the waters become more dangerous and treacherous.

So, let me get this straight. There are terrorist attacks happening that no media anywhere in THE WORLD is covering? That none of the citizens that live in the allegedly afflicted places are talking about? That no local authorities are requesting help or responded to? That no terrorist entity is even claiming responsibility for?

This has been so absurd that I no longer have any new levels of disbelief. I can, and do, believe that this crazy man is capable of any amount of maddening damage and that anything he does is perfectly ok in the eyes of his conspirators and apologists. He really is doing his best to spread fear and doubt among Americans - fear of terrorism, and doubt that the media is truthful. For once, Trump is not loud, strident or confident in the video - he's being downright creepy.

Of course, there is one reason to be afraid - afraid that this shameless liar has appointed a series of scumbags to powerful positions, and is willing to say anything at all to strengthen his personal position.

This is going to be the pattern, for as long as Trump remains president - his regime puts forward authoritarian rules, or methods of enriching him and his cronies, and to divert from the shitstorm, he tries to make people afraid, or stirs up hatred of a scapegoat group or individual. Just imagine the worst tactics of online trolls, but by a group with the most power anyone has in the world.
