Moscow (dpa) - A law decriminalizing first-time instances of domestic violence has been signed into law by Russian President Vladimir Putin, the country's official newspaper of record, Rossiiskaya Gazeta, reported Tuesday.
The legislation considers such instances to be an administrative offence, punishable by a fine. Further offences are still to be treated as a crime, according to the report. The bill swept through parliament with overwhelming support.
A co-author of the bill, Yelena Mizulina, who heads the lower house of parliament's committee on family, women and children's affairs, insisted that imprisonment for a "slap" was tearing families apart.
Critics believe that such legislation could cover up an endemic problem, often linked to alcohol abuse.

(86,536 posts)lately... I hope women all over the planet start "teaching" men what life is about and start fighting back. Personally, I have had to kick ass - literally - more than once. I had no concern as to whether they were able to breathe when I was done with them and I know that two ended up in ICU after the "event". I walked away, someone else had to call 911 for them.
I'm not advocating violence except in cases of self preservation, as in my experiences, however, I think women should start refusing to "obey" what men foist upon us and take control of the planet before it becomes uninhabitable.

(175,731 posts)Is the backlash against women because Hillary Clinton decided to run for president? Europe, for example, has plenty of women leaders. Angela Merkel and Theresa May come to mind, but there are others.
Disgusting.

(23,091 posts)Both hate women and want them to be brutalized with no reprecusions. Next rape will be OK'd and their war against women will be fully on. Any woman that voted for him absolutely hates herself and her sex and is a total idiot.
