LePage uses State of State to rip liberal attack on Maine way of life

Source: Bangor Daily News

AUGUSTA, Maine — Gov. Paul LePage tore into “liberal” political opponents in a State of the State address Tuesday that sought to delegitimize the Legislature and accuse special interest groups of preying on needy and elderly Mainers.

In one of the most aggressive speeches of his tenure, which lasted more than an hour, LePage spared none of his political opponents while turning up the volume on a conservative populist message based on his belief that he’s the last line of defense for “hardworking Mainers.”

“Our economy and our way of life are under attack,” said LePage early in the speech. “The taxes Mainers have paid all their lives fund the organizations that throw them on the street. It has to stop. We owe it to our elderly to protect them.”

Many of the governor’s statements echoed comments he’s been making for weeks: How his budget seeks to counteract the effects of two referendums that passed in November — a minimum wage hike and a 3 percent surtax on income over $200,000 per year to benefit education.

leaving $194,000. Do you think you could scrape by on $194K. Egad! You might have yo economize by pulling you kid out of a private charter school and put her a public school. Ya know, where they teach science.

It's not ON incomes that total more than 200K, it on the part of the income that is OVER $200K.

So if you make $202 K you don't pay $6,060. You pay $60.

You have to go all the way up to $400K to get charged $6K.

LePage has had many years now to improve Maine. Businesses will not locate there for many reasons that LePage will have no part of listening to. His plan is to always lower taxes and it does not work. Maine has a huge issue of young college grads leaving Maine. Its time for him to go BUT the Democratic party needs to work with the Independent candidate in the next election so that a 38% vote does not win another election for Governor. His day one antics of removing a mural depicting Maine workers from the past was despicable.
He is just Trump junior.
