Donald Trump breaks ice with China in letter seeking 'constructive' ties

US President Donald Trump has broken the ice with Chinese President Xi Jinping in a letter that said he looked forward to working with him to develop relations, although the pair have not spoken directly since Mr Trump took office.

The letter thanked Mr Xi for his congratulatory note on Mr Trump's inauguration and wished the Chinese people a prosperous Lunar New Year of the Rooster, the White House said in a statement.

"President Trump stated that he looks forward to working with President Xi to develop a constructive relationship that benefits both the United States and China," it said.

Diplomatic sources in Beijing say China has been nervous about Mr Xi being left humiliated in the event a call with Mr Trump goes wrong and the details are leaked to the US media.

He was talking trash about china a few weeks ago wasn't he? Then China begins threatening war and flashing nukes and he goes silent and writes a thank you letter. Nothing wrong with engaging in diplomacy but this guy has no idea what he is doing. They called his bluff. He backs down when confronted.

6. I believe nothing that Trump says

or writes. His own people have said not to take what he says literally.
Trump campaigned on China being a currency manipulator devaluing its yuan, when the truth of the matter is that China for the past 4 or 5 months has been trying to prop up the yuan.

America has become a blue pill red pill matrix, and I'm afraid that most of America is doubling up on blue pills.
