Conway Urges Viewers During Fox Interview: 'Go Buy Ivanka's Stuff!'

Source: Talking Points Memo

By KRISTIN SALAKY Published FEBRUARY 9, 2017, 9:29 AM EDT

Top Donald Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway used a Fox News appearance on Thursday morning to encourage people to buy items from Ivanka Trump's clothing and accessories line, just one day after the President slammed Nordstrom on Twitter for dropping it.

"Go buy Ivanka's stuff is what I would tell you," she said. "I hate shopping, I will go get some myself today."

"This is just a wonderful line," Conway continued. "I own some of it. I fully—I'm going to give a free commercial here. Go buy it today, everybody, you can find it online."

Conway said that she finds it troubling that executives are dropping Ivanka Trump's clothing line when she feels the President's daughter is an icon for women's empowerment and that executives, like those at Nordstrom, are using Ivanka Trump to get to her father.

pretty sure the federal marshalls should be perp walking her out of the west wing.

Having been a federal employee for 10 years, this sort of activity is clearly illegal.

Unlike the President, she has no protection in federal law.

It's been a few years, but I believe there are some fairly stiff rules regarding advocating for or advertising the products of any private enterprise while acting in one's official capacity as a federal employee.

The kicker is that she will get away with this by claiming she was not acting in her official capacity but rather was speaking as an invited guest.

Where she physically was located at the time she made the statement has a lot to do with it, though, and if she was clearly speaking from a government office, yeah, she screwed up bad.

Edit: never mind. She was AT the White House when she said it. And even said "I'm going to give a free commercial here." While on your dime and mine.

Not that anything will stick to Cookingspray Conway, but we can hope...

for this blatant conflict of interest? i don't get why he's allowed to get away with this. i mean, i know republicans are craven, soulless, assholes without a shred of shame or decency, but do they really want what this administration is leading to?

we can't just teeter on this cliff forever.

it seems simple. give the president a choice: his business or the presidency. this has gone on way too long, and we're what? 2 1/2 weeks into it?

You answered your own q. If we had a Dem Congress, Drumpf would have been told to divest and his kids could NOT be his top advisors or he would not be sworn in. But repugs were so happy to get one of their own in the presidency they could not care less what he does.

Yes, the Nordstrom's matter is outrageous and belongs on our lengthening "Impeachable Offenses" list. But I think the trumpistas are trying to deflect attention from: 1.) the huge gust of positive wind put into Senator Warren's electoral sails by turtle-boy's fumbling; and 2.) sharply critical comments on trump's handling of the courts---from trump's own nominee for SCOTUS.

So glad to see trump and his thugs, headed for a ditch. Let's do all we can to hasten the process.

Sure boycott Ivanka's line. I guess that is the easiest route. And maybe that is a great strategy in that it will only stoke discontent within the Drumpf family.

And I understand that Trump has his tiny hands in many enterprises but there must be a way to highlight one or two at a time. Make it a weekly or monthly plan 'boycott of the month' idea.

I guess it could be that he has shielded himself by mainly investing in luxury services and hotels.

Real Estate. ...
Hotels. ...
Golf Courses. ...
Casinos. ...
Trump Model Management. ...(what young woman would sign up for this?)
Success by Trump. ...
Sentient Jets, LLC (Trump Jets LLC)

It may be more that we boycott other companies that use his services, that rent offices from his buildings. I don't know, but I'd like to see his personal business's start to fail because of a concerted united effort.
