Wayne State on alert after racist graffiti

Wayne State University President M. Roy Wilson today e-mailed an open letter to students and staff about racist graffiti discovered on campus.

The graffiti is the latest such incident this week on Michigan college campuses.

In the letter, Wilson said Wayne State officials learned of the incidents Thursday from social media posts.  The graffiti was found in public areas of campus, he said.

"I always find such behavior abhorrent, but I am deeply disappointed this has happened at Wayne State, where we embrace and respect our differences and strive to live by our values of diversity and inclusion," Wilson said, adding that Wayne State's police department is investigating. "Such actions will not be tolerated. Not only are they detestable; they are criminal."

1. This has been an on-going attack against African-Americans there.

There have been multiple incidents, especially since the election. In other parts of the states' institutions of higher education, it isn't just African-Americans under attack, but the Jews too. This is the work of the alt-right/neo-Nazi/white supremacists.

2. Is it because I live here?

Maybe that's the reason that I hear so much of this or just focus on it. There was the repub who was calling for the murder of people at UC:Berkeley. I got a note from Eastern (just graduated last year) talking about racist emails being sent around at UMich. Then there's stuff going on around Wayne state.

I know our state is screwed up in a lot of ways but things seem to be intensifying.

Oh.. btw sorry, it deserves to be mentioned first any time racism in Michigan is mentioned: Flint is still without clean drinking water.
