Student Republican group apologizes after handing out anti-Semitic Valentine's Day card

Source: AOL.com

The Valentine's Day card, which was handed to the students by a member of the College Republicans group, had a picture of Adolf Hitler and read "my love 4 u burns like 6,000 jews," according to Central Michigan Life, the university's school newspaper.

A member of student group posted a statement on the College Republicans Facebook page the following morning denying any knowledge of the card and apologizing for its offensive content.

"At tonight's College Republican meeting, we had a Valentine's Day party, in which each member decorated a bag and other members placed valentines (cards) inside of others' bags," the statement reads. "Unfortunately, a very inappropriate card was placed into a bag without other members' knowledge. A bag was then given away, once again without members' knowledge of its contents."

The College Republicans as an organization did not distribute this valentine. We in no way condone this type of rhetoric or anti-Semitism. We apologize for any offense, and want students to know that we do not tolerate this sort of behavior."

....because it's in an assumptive atmosphere in which this kind of thing is A-okay, even if the exact images were too overt.

Like the Young Repugs at the University of California inviting Milo Yiannopoulos. The Repugs were fine with his message and his presence. And frankly, he's just like the contents of this card.

Any organization taking donations of things like messages or greeting cards needs to review them so this exact thing does not occur.

never "accidentally" give out Hitler cards celebrating genocide. The "accidents" and "misstatements" that Repukes have always seem to be very well crafted.

Apology doesn't cut it -- they knew how offensive this would be.

Campuses have suspended fraternities for various offenses less obnoxious than this.

Fraternities get suspended because of the members behavior not because the fraternity charter promotes that behavior.

14. " The College Republicans as an organization did not distribute this valentine"

No, OK. The College Republicans as individuals distributed this valentine. And even so, to paraphrase the dominant Republican philosophy as stated by Willard the Dull: Organizations are people, my friend.

This IS mainstream Republican behavior in the Age of Trump. They love to own it until a few rays of sunlight are shown on them. Then, and ONLY then, do they suddenly remember to be shocked.
