Top WH Advisor Says Trump's Authority In Immigration Order Is 'Beyond Question'

Source: Talking Points Memo

By ESME CRIBB Published FEBRUARY 12, 2017, 11:10 AM EDT

White House senior policy advisor Stephen Miller said on Sunday that President Donald Trump's authority to impose an executive order temporarily barring visitors from seven predominantly Muslim countries from entering the United States is "beyond question."

"The President’s powers here are beyond question," Miller said in an interview on "Fox News Sunday." He said that the federal appeals court that upheld a stay on the executive order "has a long history of being overturned and overreaching" and that the government is "pursuing every single possible action" to counter it.

"A district judge in Seattle cannot make immigration law for the United States, cannot give foreign nationals and foreign countries rights they do not have, and cannot prevent the President of the United States from suspending the admission of refugees from Syria," Miller said Sunday in an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press."

"What the judges did, both at the 9th and at the district level, was to take power for themselves that belonged squarely in the hands of the President of the United States," he said. Miller said that there is "no such thing as judicial supremacy."

the GOP supported that act.

As to judicial supremacy, Miller might wish to read Marbury v. Madison.

In an atmosphere of doublespeak on most issues, confusion reigns

If they can add to the mix that courts are irrelevant

Then they are the law

THAT is where they are headed

such time that addressed immigration reform was unconstitutional and impeachable!

Where are all the righteous, principled goprs now? And why aren't pundits and reporters and journalists drawing these kinds of comparisons? Where is all the talk of an imperial presidency like there has been over the last 8 years?

The United States of America is a nation of laws, not a dictator's plaything.

Even Nixon knew that the President is subject to the law and therefore the courts.

Yep...even Tricky Dick knew he was subject to the law and therefore the courts...but......
just cause Miller says it, does not make it true... Maybe Miller ought to talk to the "legal counsel"...or a judge...before he makes a statement like this...
