Report: Trump Administration Promised Canadians Sarah Palin Won't Be Named Ambassador

Source: Mediaite

by Alex Griswold | 10:24 am, February 14th, 2017

According to a report, President Donald Trump promised his Canadian counterpart Monday that former Republican Alaska Governor Sarah Palin would not be named ambassador to Canada.

“A Trudeau government official says that assurance was provided to Canadian officials during Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s visit to the White House on Monday,” reports The Globe and Mail. Left to the reader’s imagination is whether or not Trudeau and his underlings sought assurances that Palin would not be named.

During the 2008 presidential campaign, Palin cited her state’s proximity to Russia and Canada as proof of her foreign policy experience. Palin was also floated during the transition period as a potential Secretary of Veterans Affairs, but ultimately ended up with no role in the Trump administration.

The Trump White House has not decided who the ambassador will be, but are “leaning to appointing someone who raised money for the Trump campaign.” Barack Obama‘s ambassadors to Canada were also mega-fundraisers: David Jacobson and Bruce Heyman.

... the other one is NOT signing the anti-LGBT EO (yet anyhow).

So, basically the only two positives I have found about Trump is that he HASN'T done two very shitty things... inflicting this idiotic asshole upon us and targeting the LGBT community.

Pretty sad set of positives, I guess...

It is customary to ask the host country before naming an Ambassador.

If they go ahead and appoint anyway the host country can simply withold accepting the credentials.

The Canadians were simply helping Trump avoid embarassment.

Well, you can take that to the bank.

Wanna bet he nominates Palin?

Then Justin Trudeau gets to say thanks, but no thanks, Don.
