Dems on Flynn: 'This is just the beginning'
By Mike Lillis - 02/14/17 11:43 AM EST
House Democrats have a message for GOP leaders eager to move beyond the Russia controversy following the resignation of national security adviser Michael Flynn: Not so fast.
"This is not the end, this is just the beginning," Rep. Joseph Crowley (N.Y.), chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, told reporters in the Capitol Tuesday. "This is larger than Flynn." ... The comments set the stage for a messaging war on Capitol Hill between Republican leaders, who are hoping to move beyond questions of the White House's ties to the Kremlin, and Democrats, who are amplifying their calls for a deeper dive in the wake of Flynn's resignation.
....
GOP leaders including Speaker Paul Ryan (Wis.), House Oversight Chairman Jason Chaffetz (Utah) and House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes (Calif.) said Tuesday that they have no plans to dig deeper into Flynn's connections to Russia. Their focus, Ryan said, is repealing ObamaCare.
But Democrats are dubious that Flynn acted on his own, and they're pressing for a bipartisan probe to uncover any potential conflicts of interest between the White House and the Russians. ... "It defies reason," said Rep. Peter Welch (D-Vt.). "People in that position don't do things without authorization."

(49,000 posts)Ryan will pass on any move to put himself in as VP.
He'll probably skip 2020, depending on events, and try for 2024. It's a reasonable bet that the country will be so disgusted with Republicans and especially tRump (if he's still around) in 2020 that a Democrat will have a very good chance.

(58,785 posts)few who have other ideas), other nations and institutions will be assisting the investigations into this administration's actions unofficially. They're threatening the stability and wellbeing of the entire planet, not to mention pissing a whole lot of people off.

(9,524 posts)"The minority Democrats have no power to launch an investigation on their own, a situation they readily acknowledge.
"We can't force them to do it, you're absolutely right," said Rep. Linda Sánchez (D-Calif.), vice chairwoman of the caucus. "But the people of the United States of America can. They just need to ratchet up the pressure."
So, ratcheting coming right up. How long did it take for the airport protests to start?

(9,444 posts)The way he tugs men in with his handshakes and grabs women by the crotch are examples of his need to control people. Doubtful that he's the one coming up with all the ideas but you can bet he allows nothing to happen without his authorization.
That handshake (I'm the alpha) is so Freudian it is worthy of a spit take. It was great to see Trudeau(?) give him the same treatment. Very smart man.
