Andrew Puzder expected to withdraw from labor secretary nomination, source says
Source: CBS
Andrew Puzder, President Trumps pick for labor secretary, is expected to withdraw his name from the nomination, a source close to the restaurant executive tells CBS News Major Garrett.
The source says he does not believe Puzder will appear for his confirmation hearing Thursday before the Senates Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) committee.
Asked why, the source said, I think hes very tired of the abuse.
Another source working on Puzders confirmation preparation also told Garrett that the odds were about 80 percent odds that the CKE Restaurants executive would pull out of the nomination.
The news comes after days of intense scrutiny over Puzders fitness to lead the Labor Department and questionable support from Republican senators.
Puzder, who previously lead the company that owns fast food chains Carls Jr. and Hardees, came under fire earlier this month after reports that he and his wife had employed an undocumented immigrant for housework.

(28,787 posts)so Sessions I get more because he's been in DC for ages, but DeVos?! How could that happen.
does this, and the Flynn/Russia scandal, mean trump can forget about his presidency being a smooth ride into owner of the world?

(2,870 posts)I think it'll take ~80-85% disapproval for impeachment.
I think it'll happen.
Might be good to be welcoming to those who do an about face on trump.
Not a lot of other stuff to agree on with them, but this process will happen when numbers overload the scale in our favor.

(28,787 posts)i know i will do my level best to be gracious. but i am bitter i have to admit it.
anyway, i know there are people out there already regretting their decision to vote for trump. they're not beating down my door to confess to me. my son's girlfriend said even if her father was feeling remorseful, he wouldn't tell her. i'm taking my cue from the news and the polls and the noise people are making to their congress people.

(2,870 posts)stand in the way when it all begins to topple.
I don't even expect a change of heart on any issues. It's just all so goddam wrong, I just want them to not make moves to block it when it's getting fixed.
When you take a longer view it's clear that that'll be traumatic for some, maybe a lot of us.
It's history and it moves in jumps and starts.
Just as this previous year was a huge leap backwards, with some luck, it could reverse with more trump blunders.
It did with Nixon, the best historical parallel.

(28,787 posts)we just have to continue to resist, write, call, march, make noise. organize and show up!
to maintain that resolve for the long run ahead exhausts me frankly. but it's fucking important. cannot stop.
still, having lived through nixon, too young to vote against him and 18 when he resigned, and reagan, and the gw horror show, all of that, i never thought i would see my country in a situation like the one we're in. it still makes me shake my head and feel really distraught from time to time, nearly hopeless.

DeVos, dunno. However she is so grandly ignorant that she is going get her nose rubbed in her shit to a much greater degree than simply being blocked from entering a public school.
