Trump offers national security adviser post to Vice Admiral Harward: sources

The Trump administration has offered the job of White House national security adviser, vacated by former U.S. intelligence official Michael Flynn, to Vice Admiral Robert Harward, said two U.S. officials familiar with the matter on Wednesday.

It was not immediately clear if Harward, a former deputy commander of U.S. Central Command who has Navy SEAL combat experience, had accepted the offer, according to sources.

A White House spokesperson had no immediate comment.

Flynn resigned on Monday after revelations that he had discussed U.S. sanctions on Russia with the Russian ambassador to the United States before President Donald Trump took office.

He's smart and sensible and could easily be on the short list for a Democratic president's appointee. I could support this choice. He seems to know what he's doing and is qualified with a good track record. He also speaks Farsi and grew up in the middle east back when Iran was an ally (1970's)

He worked with General Mattis before. ADM Harward and General Mattis are the ones who will stop Trump from doing something stupid like starting WW3.

I was against that nutjob Flynn from the beginning. Obama fired him in 2014 for disobeying orders and being abusive to his staff.

Harward is a much better choice, which means someone else must have found him. I don't think Trump or Bannon would have chosen someone who spearheaded programs to recruit more women into the service academies and military universities, which are the pipeline for officers and senior leaders. I think we'll be in good hands with VADM Harward.
