Intel Dem: House GOP now open to investigating Flynn

Source: The Hill

House Republicans are open to investigating former national security advisor Michael Flynn as part of a larger probe into Russian influence on November's elections, according to the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee.

House GOP leaders had initially balked at the idea of expanding their Russia investigation to include Flynn, with Intel Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) telling CNN that Flynn was protected by "executive privilege." Nunes said the probe should focus not on Flynn's conversation with a Russian diplomat prior to the inauguration, but on the leak that exposed the discussion.

But Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), the ranking member of the Intel panel, said he spoke with Nunes Wednesday afternoon, and that's no longer the chairman's position.

"He assured me that we would investigate everything that the Senate is looking at, including the Flynn allegations," Schiff said, "and that he will not preclude any area that Democratic members thought was a subject of legitimate investigation.

the Repugnants tried to steer this so as to actually avoid uncovering certain crimes by certain Congressional Repugnants.

There's a chance they may be trying to avoid looking complicit.

undertaken it months ago when they first heard about it but rather than do that they repeatedly stalled any investigation which makes me wonder why? Was it because they themselves were communicating and assisting Russia in the hacking or know of another member of their party that was?

We all know how Rethugs "investigate" their own. They spent 50 million on The BJ-gate and what 20 on Hillary, they won't spend one week on this.

...all the time.

There are almost zero among them who wouldn't sell the US to Putin for a buck.

They have the perfect President for their purposes.

It wasn't always this way, but it's sure there now.

I don't.

Isn't there a way to get an independent committee to investigate?

How did the investigation of Clinton get done (besides the fact that Clinton gave permission for an independent prosecutor)? Were Republicans the majority in Congress at that time? I guess so.

this is a start. You never know where an investigation will lead once it gets started, strings start to be pulled and things unravel and snowball.

all along and install Pence. This way once it's done, they can argue that the dems encouraged them to do this all along, and therefore now we can all move on.

I wonder about Trump's mental health. Pence, while having despicable political positions, at least is sane and probably won't get us into a nuclear war or be a puppet for Russia.

But I doubt this is the Republican plan.

If he was involved in such things with Russia then my money is on him being "very" hands on with the investigation.
