Rep. Hunter bans Indivisible members from his office, hundreds join protest outside

Source: East County Magazine

Some 300 demonstrators staged a boisterous rally late Thursday afternoon near the El Cajon district office of 50th District U.S. Representative Duncan Hunter (R-El Cajon) on Magnolia and Bradley Avenue. Hunter’s office issued a release earlier stating that his staff would no longer meet with constituents from the group, then shut down the office today in response to the protest rally.

The protestors held up placards representing a mixed array of concerns over his stances on key issues, drawing attention during rush hour traffic, including demonstrators on an overpass visible to motorists on State Route 67. Their concerns include repeal of the Affordable Care Act, President Trump’s immigration policies, defunding Planned Parenthood, Trump’s election, and an ongoing investigation of Hunter’s alleged improper use of campaign funds.

Protest rallies have also been staged at Hunter’s Temecula office. Organized by Indivisible San Diego and Indivisible North San Diego County, the groups also expressed outrage that Rep. Hunter has not held any town hall meetings of late.

...Rally organizers voiced outrage earlier in the day on Facebook, in a post which read, “Update- we received an email from Hunter's office that we are no longer allowed to come to his office or we will be trespassing! We pay for that office! We pay for those employees! We will not be silenced! He is trying to slander his own constituents for asking him to do his job. We will not back down. Join us tonight to show him and his supporters that we are a peaceful but powerful movement and we will not be silenced! We are perfectly within our constitutional rights to be on public sidewalks, that is where we will be. We will also have Sheriff Sergeant Rinder and his officers on site to help keep the peace..."

Hunter has his office on private property so his constituents can't even go visit his staff, let alone see their Congressman who has repeatedly dodged their visits and refuses to hold town halls with his constituents.

Note: His staff lied to the LA Times and claimed he's held town halls in the past. He hasn't. When I pinned his staff down on this for an earlier article, they admitted he's only spoken to groups that invited him, such as Tea Party or Chamber of Commerce meetings, and at a jobs fair he hosted a while back. He has held telephone town halls that are a joke, since we hear that progressive callers or anyone who disagrees with him gets screened out and is not allowed to ask questions.

Hunter isn't getting a pass from media anymore; the biggest paper in town, the San Diego Union-Tribune, recently sold and the new owners have been going after him on his shady campaign finances (charging up family vacations, costly jewelry and even airfare for his kid's pet rabbit, all billed to his campaign).

There were news crews from several TV news stations at tonight's protest, including one TV van that a tipster told us got towed. (If Hunter's office towed a TV van parked at his lot, he may live to regret that. Media has long memories about such things.)

I attended a town hall that Hunter (Jr.) put on, around 2012. (I want to say 2012 because the Democrat running against him sat directly in front of me.)

I was impressed that he put himself out there for what was obviously a tough crowd. His actual policies and positions --- less impressive.

One of the things that I remember most clearly was his response to a fellow complaining that his positions didn't align with FreedomWorks was to express frustration with that group, saying that he hadn't changed his positions, he was still the same Duncan Hunter, Jr. as always: it was FreedomWorks that was changing theirs (i.e., they were moving to the right). The idea that conservatives were moving to the right of him was disconcerting.

His seat has historically been so red. But maybe that's changing. I was surprised when Donald Applegate won the San Diego portion of the adjacent rather red district in November. Times are a'changing.

Here in AZ, apparently, their type are about to be listed as 'mobsters' for having the temerity to 'organize a protest' ... which as we know is just so very un-American and SAD ...

before there is anyone having "standing" to challenge it. Should not take too long as law enforcement was apparently pushing this bill.

I was invited earlier in the week. I could not go this week, and I can't go next week, either. I am going to call someone tomorrow, to get more information. I will ask my husband to attend a meeting, if possible.

We have over 100 members in and around Alamogordo, New Mexico...at least one in Truth or Consequences...and, of course, one in NM's second largest city, Las Cruces.
We have a Tea Party, public-land stealing US Representative Steve Pearce (one should hear hisses as this man is so greedy, evil villainous every time we hear his name).

East County article.

Hunter is dumb as a rock and a disgrace to San Diego. I doubt that having his office (paid for by public funds) on property that restricts public access is legal. Worth a check with the ACLU.

1. Hillary won the popular vote, the electoral college stole that election.
2. More Americans voted for Democratic house member over Republican house members, gerrymandering stole the election.
3. More Americans voted for Democratic senators over Republican senators, The allotment of the seats in theenate by state rather than population stole the election for republican.

What is happening in the streets is the democracy our hearts stepping up to fill the void lefty the paper democracy that was stolen from us.

I for one am excited!!!

And he's a disgrace to the Marine Corps.

Several years ago he sided with a Pendleton Marine who was ordered by his commanding officer to stop posting anti-Obama crap on the web, because it clearly showed disrespect to the Commander-in-Chief. The Marine refused and got disciplined, but Hunter defended him.

Other than having to repay his campaign for illegitimate charges (pet rabbit transportation, buying video games, etc.), Hunter's only other claims to fame are vaping during a Congressional hearing and renaming the Ramona post office.

by riding on daddy's coattails. When he first ran they kept the "Jr." off the signs so that the East County rednecks couldn't tell that it was now the son, not the father.
