CNNs Peter Hamby was at National Harbor to watch President Donald Trumps speech to the Conservative Political Action Conference on Friday, and he saw audience members waving tiny Russian flags emblazoned with the name TRUMP. Staffers seem to have swiftly realized this was a bad look for a president who is under suspicion of a variety of shady ties with Russia, and confiscated them.

At the same time, the speech itself really only deepened the questions around Trump and Russia. He denounced the Washington Post reporting that led to National Security Adviser Michael Flynns firing, for example, as having been based on fake sources. But if the sources were fake, then why did he fire Flynn? Then he specifically denounced the whole idea of stories based on anonymous sources. But just hours ago, the Trump White House held an anonymous briefing with senior White House officials to deny reports that Chief of Staff Reince Priebus had made improper contact with the FBI regarding the investigation.

Flags or no flags, questions about what exactly is going on here wont stop until the White House allows a thorough and independent investigation.

this is totally mind boggling. Instead of giving out US flags, they want to celebrate Russia? Really, Russia over the US, that is just astounding, jaw dropping even! Now they are bringing their treachery out in the open, for at least a few minutes anyway. Wonder which bright person realized how horrible this was and tried to hide it. I'm sure the love/fear of Russia is real for Drumpf and since they supported him financially when our banks wouldn't, think he's all in for Putin and this just proves it beyond a shadow of a doubt. The guys who did this hate Trump and the GOP.

So they played a joke on the Republicans by making the red-white-and-blue TRUMP flags and people thought they were being patriotic. But they didn't realize they were actually waving Russian flags with Trump's name on them. It took quite a while until somebody finally figured it out. Once they did, all the flags were confiscated and the 2 guys were kicked out of the convention.

The purpose was to make fun of the Republicans and point out Trump's connection to Russia and Putin. Also I guess to show how stupid the Trump supporters really are.

I read some of the tweets from the conference and this one fellow said he talked to 3 people that had been holding the flags and they said someone was passing them out. I bet the people handing out the flags had a great laugh after!!
