Trump promises border wall 'soon, way ahead of schedule'

Source: BBC

US President Donald Trump has vowed to start building a wall on the Mexican border "soon, way ahead of schedule", in a speech at a conservative event.

Addressing the Conservative Political Action Congress (CPAC), he vowed to always put American citizens first and build a "great, great border wall".

He also promised to focus on "getting bad people out of this country".

Mr Trump was greeted by chants of "USA, USA, USA!" as he addressed the annual forum in Maryland.

Now he's going to start it 'soon, way ahead of schedule'.

I guess he doesn't understand how the US Budget works. He's got to get an appropriation through Congress before he can start spending money on a wall.

How can we have such a fantastically STUPID administration???

There are a lot of physical obstacles to overcome if they expect the damn thing to stand.

they could be shown photo evidence that no construction is taking place, and they would call that source "fake news", claim the source is fabricating the story, deny any and all GPS location data proving that that location has no wall at all, and then swear up and down that the wall is really there.

People who would believe these things (and they would; look at today's claim by Trump that there's a line for CPAC that stretches for blocks) have again and again been the authors of horrors throughout human history.

Wasn't it Voltaire who said that those who believe with a whole heart in an absurdity can be motivated to commit an atrocity?

He could have been talking about Donald Trump's minions.

administration costs without the approval of Congress, as the Founders intended? Even he and his stupid cult followers can not be that stupid!

you know that you don't just call up your favorite construction buddy and tell him to 'build a wall'. You need surveys, rights-of-way, bids, etc. Then you have to go to Congress and get an appropriation (Appropriation Committees), then Congress has to approve the appropriation.

And yes, he and his low-info (aka Dumber than a pet rock) followers think that DJT can just open that big Presidential check-book and write a check. Sheesch!!

Which means he will stiff the guys who build it. I really doubt this will get off the ground. Should he actually make it 4 years, he will use it as his rallying cry to get reelected. "You want that wall built, don't you?"
