CNN, NY Times and other news outlets blocked from attending White House media briefing

Source: CNN

CNN, NY Times and other news organizations blocked from attending White House gaggle
From CNN's Sara Murray, Jeremy Diamond and Kevin Liptak:

The White House handpicked select news organizations, beyond the pool, to attend Fridays gaggle with Press Secretary Sean Spicer.

CNN was not permitted to attend, along with the New York Times, Politico, Buzzfeed, and much of the foreign press that regularly attends White House briefings.

NBC, ABC, and FOX were allowed in, along with CBS, who is Fridays pool network. Breitbart, Washington Times, One America News Network were also allowed to attend.

The Associated Press and Time boycotted the gaggle.

There has been no explanation yet from the White House.

If you can watch, CNN is updated as things develop.

CNN now has an expanded story on their site:

White House blocks news organizations from press briefing

CNN and other news outlets were blocked on Friday from attending an off-camera White House press briefing that other reporters were hand-picked to attend, raising alarm among media organizations and First Amendment watchdogs.

The decision struck veteran White House journalists as unprecedented in the modern era, and escalated tensions in the already fraught relationship between the Trump administration and the press.

The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Politico and BuzzFeed were also among those excluded from the meeting, which was held in White House press secretary Sean Spicer's office. The meeting, which is known as a gaggle, was held in lieu of the daily televised Q-and-A session in the White House briefing room.

When reporters from these news organizations tried to enter Spicer's office for the gaggle, they were told they could not attend because they were not on the list of attendees.

It's frightening because it's happening without anyone being able to stop it, at least at the moment.

The new organizations must learn to stand together if there is to be any credibility left. To allow Trump to do this to any one (or more) of the organizations will only embolden him to continue to do it.

58. Newspapers in Nazi Germany
Fri Feb 24, 2017, 05:25 PM
Feb 2017

Newspapers were greatly used by the Nazi Party to spread the party line. Newspapers were commonly purchased in an era that pre-dated television and along with the cinema and radiowas the primary mode of spreading information – information that the Nazi Party wanted to control. Hitler came to power on January 30th 1933 and almost immediately set out plans that would give the Nazis total power over all newspapers. Once Chancellor, Hitler was in a position to implement from a propaganda viewpoint what he had written about in ‘Mein Kampf’:

“The receptivity of the great masses is very limited, their intelligence is small, but their power of forgetting is enormous. In consequence of these facts, all effective propaganda must be limited to a very few points and must harp on these slogans until the last member of the public understands what you want him to understand by your slogan."

Control of newspapers was put into the hands of Joseph Goebbels, the head of the Ministry of Popular Enlightenment and Propaganda. Goebbels set up a department within the ministry that dealt solely with newspapers. The newspapers had to spread the same message as everything else – Gleischaltung – the coordination of the whole of Nazi German society so that it acted and thought the same. Therefore people could only read the news as it was presented to them by the government.

should really do some serious introspection on their irresponsibility in the last 18 months or so in not pursuing journalism or being journalistic outlets with a mission of truth and exposure, instead being, for the most part, infotainment that kept the infowars citizen enthralled with conspiracy BS that fed his racist excitement at having a white nationalist as 'ruler' of the free world. Now it's getting to be too little, too late for hard questions..

When 100 women came forth with sexual harassment claims, the media stayed on it for the appropriate 'outraged' length of time for the attention span of the average viewer of the now banned media sites. Fox Spews excluded from that group, their viewers have even shorter attention span until Hillery or Obama was mentioned then their "dumbed down" minds mustered the few brain cells they have to be able to shout "Kenyan", "birther", "lock her up", Benghazi".

When his infamous claim of fame involving the grabbing of an unconsenting women in her private body area, news media made light pretty much, laughing behind their mikes when the cameras went to break.

When a 13 year old girl was rumored to have been raped by the now boy-potus, not much traction or investigation. Page ten after that on any flurry of legal activity..it died a death of insignificancy.

When it was verified he would walk in on nude teen beauty pageant contestants because it was "his pageant, his right", there was not much made of the perverted nature one must have to think this way.

The media helped to dumb us down to the danger of a trump prezidency when we were given so many clues as to the upcoming nature and mental state of the boy-potus. DUers were shouting pretty loud, for the most part, when we weren't divided and metaphorically stabbing each other in the back, over Bernie vs HRC many of us were pushed aside if we hollered too loud about the danger, which helped further OUR distraction from the danger. Now our MSM has been shown to have been very irresponsible because of its quest for profits and not truth. Welcome to the dictatorship. But I know all of you MSM, sooner or later, will go groveling at the feet of the KKKtriumvirate ruling now, and you will, with a few(important) concessions that further helps to kill the press in this country, be right back there with the spicerliar, asking softball, inane questions while Rome burns. AmeriKKKan MSM you did it to yourself and sadly us too.

Now we have a known white supremacist and racist as Chief strategist/string puller of the boy-potus, miller is just a racist basket case with a large mean streak pulling strings on the boy-potus also. Damn ameriKKKa, really fucked up this time...bigly, hugely maybe even fatally....
