Dem senator goes on tweet storm over leaked ObamaCare repeal plan
Source: The Hill
Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) blasted the leaked Republican plans for repealing and replacing ObamaCare in a Friday night tweet storm.
A draft House Republican ObamaCare bill was leaked on Friday and includes plans to dismantle the core aspects of the healthcare law and replace them with a system centered on a new tax credit.
The measure is dated Feb. 10, so it is not the most recent version of Republicans plan. It is unclear how much has changed since then.
Murphy starts his "rant" with a tweet saying, "Let me count thy ways that the leaked GOP ACA repeal plan will totally, completely, monumentally screw you."

(26,280 posts)and likes it but voted for Trump because they are fucking going to get what they deserve and they cant claim ignorance as a legitimate defense because many of us told them repeatedly that the Repugnants would screw them over if they voted for Trump.
So to those that voted for Trump how do you like the new and "real" Death Panels that the Repugnants have planned for you now?

(34,136 posts)Because the margin of people who voted third party would have put Hillary well over the top to defeat Trump.
Even with my little exposure to the general public I know a number of people who didn't like Trump but who did believe the lies about Clinton - so they voted for Gary Johnson or another third party candidate. My husband and I did our best to convince them that was a mistake but they did it anyway. I'm not sure how sympathetic I will be when they lose their insurance.

(83,729 posts)sounds like part of it will happen immediately...some exclusions will be 2020. I may be uninsured until October when Medicare, if it is still around will kick in. Just die quickly. That is their plan. Die.
I too can not feel sorry for the ones that not only voted for this, they applauded it. Some did not need it and the attitude is I got mine, screw the rest of you. I have heard all that first hand at DI.

(81,207 posts)They DON'T want to help you.
Seriously.
They DON'T want to help you.
Repeat.
They DON'T want to help you.
They don't want to have to help you. They don't want to be (or feel) obligated to help you. They don't want to be told they have to help you. And they certainly don't want to be compelled to help you.
This is the IGMFU party. Don't ever forget it. IGMFU stands for "I Got Mine, F-U."
This is the "You're on yer own" party. "You're on yer own. Personal responsibility dontchaknow. Small government. Get the government off yer back. You're on yer own. Boot yerself up by yer own bootstraps (yeah! Like WE GOPers all did!). Don't be a lazy moocher! Do it yourself! You're on yer own, pal. But don't forget to vote for me again next time, okay?"
They DON'T want to help you.
Those six words give you everything you ever need to know about the GOP. Everything about the GOP can be summed up by those six little words. That's all you EVER need to know about ANYTHING GOP and ALL THINGS GOP.
They DON'T want to help you.

(21,740 posts)Nomral, average income Americans being that worked up over a plan to make health insurance affordable just doesn't attract that much interest for poor slobs to show up protesting. It did devolve into that, but that is where the word "deplorable" comes from.
But we have to admit one thing: Trump's plan is catching on bigly. Ask any Republican what is going to replace Obamacare and they will say "something terrific"

(9,259 posts)Can this be filibustered or have they found a way to pass it intact with no Dem votes?
BumRushDaShow
(128,814 posts)which only requires a majority vote and basically sets up the "framework" for how to structure the financial piece of whatever they plan to do (that's the only thing that reconciliation can be used for - stuff that impacts the budget).
That is similar to how the ACA came about initially - 2 bills, the "Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act" passed/signed in December 2009 and the "Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act" passed/signed in March 2010 (that included amendments to the PPA-ACA). And the use of reconciliation occured mainly due to the fact that Scott Brown won Ted Kennedy's seat in MA in December 2009, killing the Democrats' ability to bring about cloture (blocking any GOP filibuster), having then lost a 60 vote super-majority.
What might be filibustered (assuming they don't change the rules again and invoke the nuclear option as standard practice in the Senate for routine legislation), is any "replacement" - notably if it also includes financial/budget items not put under reconciliation.

(6,931 posts)Last I heard you'd get about 250.00 per month--at least people my age. With a premium now raised to nearly $850 per month by BCBS it's worthless to retired people.
