Christie chides Republicans for skipping town halls: 'Welcome to the real world of responsibility'
Source: Daily Mail
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie chided some of his fellow Republicans for not showing up to town halls to face constituents.
'Welcome to the real world of responsibility,' Christie told CNN's Jake Tapper, noting that he's hosted more than 160 town halls during his seven years as the Garden State's leader.
Republican lawmakers have found themselves face to face with angry voters, as progressive groups have encouraged liberal activists to take over Congressional town halls, much like the Tea Party did during President Obama's early years.
'The fact is that, right now, the heat is on the Republicans,' Christie acknowledged. It's on us. And I said this at a meeting of the governors yesterday, that we asked for authority to change the country.'
Christie is in Washington, D.C., as part of the National Governors Association's winter meeting. The White House will host a Governors Ball for the attendees tonight.
'We now have two-thirds of the statehouses in America. We have the House. We have the Senate. We have the White House,' Christie continued.
'It's now on us to produce results,' he said. 'And one of the things that we need to do is engage with the public.'
Like other Republicans, including the president of the United States, Christie doubted that the protesters were fully from the grass roots.

'Now, we understand that a lot of these protesters are professional protesters, people with an agenda, OK?' Christie said. 'But you got to work through that,' he added.
'And you got to stand up, let them yell themselves out,' he said. 'In New Jersey, if I walked away from every town hall where I got yelled at, I would have never done one.'

Chris here, I told them all good, I said ,if you want to stay on track, you must bridge the gap ! You will never get anywhere by jumping off, believe me I have thought about it biggly ! By the way, does yer tie hang low,can you tie it in a knot, can you tie it in a bow,can you throw it over yer shoulder like a continental soldier ,does yer tie hang low ! After the meat loaf lunch ,Donald gave me a giant box of ties for every occasion. He said it was a token of his appreciation but I know it's his way of gaining free advertisement. That or his way of sending a message out there.

(13,616 posts)But it says a lot where someone who lost the VP because he was too crude and blunt can honestly chide his fellow GOP members for something that is true. Yes CC was a rude ass, but he showed up.
